and as someone who has been defined by others perceptions my whole life (some thing u likely relate to if you black) it takes a lot to push past that. this inspired hope for me, that maybe we can grow as people on an individual level, even if it doesn't undo the past, and even if people will never see us any different. the music really says it all too.

Still processing..
This whole time, people kept wondering when he was gonna be putting the suit on
In reality.. he was taking it off, shedding Saul. Saul Gone
For anybody else that was fiending for it, looks like someone made it. Could definitely be improved on though

What a ride man
Don't quite agree. That implication is just a leap. He's in prison for life and she's not. The distance is an unavoidable fact.
We don't know if she'll ever visit him again or not. That chapter of her life is behind her, regardles of him being in prison or not. She left him years ago. Her walking away/moving on on her terms was when she came clean about Howard.
And, personally I don't think that was the look of two people who will never speak again. 40 odd years of life is a long time.
I guess there's really so little that's actually said in these final scenes that we really just bring our own ideas and baggage to it.
I often subscribe to the idea that you've gotta show things going right before you can effectively show things going wrong. I remember people saying after episode 11 that Nippy was unnecessary, because episode 11 showed him pulling schemes (the ones that "matter") with Jeff anyway. To me, though, we needed to see Gene 'win' with something closer to a 'harmless' crime in order to really add weight to the darker scheme he started to pull in ep 11, which ultimately fails and becomes his undoing.
What I'm getting at is that, for me at least, the scene with Jimmy and Kim smoking in the interrogation room holds positive connotations, and cutting to black on that would have felt like, in some cosmic way - not necessarily literally, for logistical reasons - they were back in each others' lives.
The last scene then brings you back to earth, and feels more like a parting note not just for the characters, but for the show as well. Plus we get that gorgeous shot of the two of them separated by the fences, which directly evokes the shot of them in Fun and Games in the parking garage (as well as the shot with Mike and Nacho's dad) - their previous goodbye.
Need this answered myself
Welp I guess I / we were misguided in our interpretation
Here’s an excerpt from an interview with Gould where he explains:
Actually makes a lot of sense

There’s one thing I don’t understand, was he planning to get the plea and did all that so he could lower his jail time until the judge mentioned Kim so the moment he heard that Kim turned herself in made him reconsider and decide to sacrifice himself for her? Or was it all part of the plan to go out with a bang?
What I mean is, if Kim hadn’t turned herself in, would he have taken the plea deal? Or was it his intention to turn himself in with a bang and just wanted Kim to be free when he found out she turned herself in?
The whole plan hinged on Kim showing up, which was convenient when she actually did, though it makes me wonder if he would've taken those 86 years anyway. Kim would eventually hear about it but she would just think that he got his just desserts, without him even trying to work the feds and reduce his sentence. Idk tho.
I believe that the whole point of the finale wasn’t that he confessed for Kim but that Saul finally did the right thing and told the truth. He could’ve gotten away with it and gotten out in 7 years but would’ve continued living the lie he was miserable doing in all those flash forward scenes
Kim was also living a miserable life having to keep up with the lie and once she found out that she can confess without putting Saul in danger she did so she could free herself
Saul is doing the same job in jail he was doing at Cinnabon but is happier because although he’s locked up he’s free not having to worry about getting caught in his lies
I think him learning Kim confessed willing to accept whatever consequence it came with helped him do the same. His confessions just came with harsher consequences
TLDR: Saul “broke good” at the end instead of cutting corners again and taking the easy way out
Yeah Kim confessing probably encouraged him to do the right thing

When Saul and Walter were together, where were they?
In the end of breaking bad they’re both waiting to be sent out by the vacuum guy so they hide in his basement until being sent out
This is where this scene happens:
