I can understand some of the reasoning people enjoy it, but I think the whole gigachad kind of subculture formulated around Eren in the last chapters scared me away
It scared a hoe away

We're in agreement with that, that whole manosphere cult around eren is weird at best and creepy at worst, but at least isayama pretty outwardly denounces that behavior so its not like he endorses gigachad eren.
But regardless its all jokes idc if yall hate aot, UNLESS its a one piece stan, then i got a problem
Idk why magnetic rose has been all over my timeline on Twitter recently. Very cool, but also stink bomb and especially cannon fodder are great too dont forget about those
Choosing AOT as your example of good writing is crazy
If you dont think the writing is good, the anime does a good job of using cinematography to great affect.
The way the animators pan, freeze on a certain expression, the great music that goes along with it, the subtle remarks...everything comes together perfectly in the anime.
Within the first 10 episodes there's dozens of captivating scenes (what happens to his mom, the very opening with the colossal peeking over the wall, almost every death scene,
I mean there were countless moments throughout the anime where my jaw would drop and that was mostly due to how the animators handled every frame of the show.
I just don't see any of that in Brotherhood so far. The animation is so bland, and the characters seem just as much. There's no scenes that stand out to me or that I thought were noteworthy at all. But like I've mentioned this is probably due to how the animators choose to produce the show.

magnetic rose is regularly considered the best of the three, beautiful short

You might want to keep watching cause it gets better
Honestly the first episodes of Brotherhood minus Episode 4 don’t capture to much of the vibe of the show and don’t emphasize some of the tragedy to a good degree
Maybe start watching the 2003 version of the show if you want something more tragic, although there are some insanely stupid moments in it, but few and far between

its def the one i always come back too

Its my favorite too, but to me it feels wrong to exclude cannon fodder for example. It got otomo's name behind it too and its simply brilliant (not literally tho lmfao, definitely not)

Yeah that's fair
felt more emotion in this scene than reading the entirety of AOT
Tbh the biggest flaw with the 2009 FMAB is it expects you to know the source material
Bones adapted the manga 6 years before in the 2003 version, and so they went the safe route by pretty much adapting it 1 to 1 in the 2009 version
So earlier moments in the show feel kind of jarring for a first time viewer especially the first episode which is just filler to fill you in on the characters and what they are about. Instead of easing you into it all like the 2003 and letting things marinate, although by a certain point that version becomes it’s own thing.
Otherwise it’s really great
Arifumi Imai on boards for the new JJK noticed him when Toji did a kubo rip down that cursed dragon
Been reading this web novel using deepl since the manga that it's adapted to is so slow 🫠 I always thought deepl is very darn accurate but the tl still turns out scuffed. Like the pronouns are always switched but when the sentence is read the opposite is what makes sense. There's no going back cause I'm like 3 to 4x ahead into this source material than what has been adapted
I should just learn japanese at this point...
