Kind of regret not writing a spotlight for Shinsaku Kozuma this month, birthday on the 13th

Kozuma has a super long and varied history on mecha animation in the early 80s, and 90s and was a student of Yoshinori Kanada. He is probably the most interesting of the three Kanada students due to the unclean nature of his animation standing out among the two other students he worked alongside; Masahito Yamashita, and Koji Ito. Kozuma is almost a proto Hisashi Mori, just with how oddball and against the grain his Kanada affiliated style is

He had quit traditional 2D animation in the late 90s early 00s to work on Final Fantasy, being a storyboard designer and I believe helping out Kanada when he had moved over to Square Enix as a 3D designer.

Kozuma then valiantly returned to traditional animation and now works at Mappa, where he is highly regarded as a senior staff member, still drawing scenes to this day at 64 years old. Up there with the likes of Masaaki Endo, another animator in his 60s who is a key animator on tv anime to this very day.

Not really, it just happens to be coincidental. Sure, I liked his character designs for those shows, but they aren't really the biggest reasons why I liked them. Casshern Sins was more storyboarding and its thematic coherence. Heartcatch was more its sheer sense of style and personality (which his CD and CAD work does contribute to) as well as its thematic coherence. Mushishi more for its atmosphere and soundtrack.

i've really enjoyed it but there is a part where the focus shifts from nazuna and kou to some other characters for a little bit and i think some people didn't like that. i thought those parts were just as well written though so it didn't really bother me
