Og series she died where you saw her die.

Rebuild I think she was always a clone in that universe, so she died somewhere off screen before the series. It's the same Asuka for all 4 movies.

I do prefer the OG series over the rebuilds, and EoE trumps all of them even though I definitely did enjoy 3.0 + 1.0, the others were OK but THAT was fire

What’s up with the random parachute chick tho? It almost makes it seem like she was an angel or something at the very end. Kinda weird how she ended up with Shinji in the end as opposed to Asuka

OG + EoE incredible & my fav combo. But I think the final of OG series was one of the best anime eps I’ve ever seen. Just felt so damn deep.

Mari was an "angel" in a sense of an outside insert. Touch grass and live a life. Instead of you self inserting in Shinji or a typical Isekai. You are reminded that life is outside of anime. It's why he runs off with her and all the other characters stay in their own world

Also coincides with the massive amounts of freelance work. A lot of productions but not enough animators.
