Who’s your favorite antagonist and why?
A general rule of thumb I have is that the harder it is to hate the antagonist the better of an antagonist they are in my opinion. Antagonists who are mindlessly evil or are evil for some basic ass reason like they want power are garbage.
Nana Daiba from Revue Starlight - Her reasoning and actions are genuinely defendable. If nobody was able to stop her plans, everyone in the show would still be able to live their lives happily without a second thought. I'll spoiler stuff just in case but let's be real nobody in this thread who hasn't already seen Starlight is gonna watch it. Nana time loops the year for two reasons. One, she isn't concerned about becoming the number one, all she cares about is the emotional satisfaction of successfully completing the first performance with her friends, nobody is hurt in this because they all enjoy the performance. The second is that in her mind, she thinks the competition for the number one spot is destructive and by consistently time looping back to the beginning of the year, she is saving her friends from the pain of confronting the fact they aren't good enough to be in the top spot.
Akane Shinhou from SSSS.GRIDMAN - She's essentially the most powerful person in the show, but all her best scenes are the personal and intimate one on one moments she has with the rest of the cast which is a sign that she's good as an actual character and not just a plot device to create cool fights. Most importantly, she's an antagonist who can be redeemed. She created the computer world so she could escape from her depression and loneliness in the real world. She kills and removes anyone in the computer world who she doesn't like and doesn't see it as doing anything evil because in her mind, they aren't real. When her creations finally get a chance to confront her with their feelings, she learns to stop running from reality and face it instead.

What’s revue starlight
Is there anything worth watching this season other than ToG? Nothing else sounds too interesting to me tbh

Nope
New berserk f***ing fire, s*** imagine if miura dropped consistently it would be the undisputed goat (even though it already is)
Who’s your favorite antagonist and why?
L from Death Note
I like it when the protagonist and antagonist have a dynamic, in a way him and Light are different because of looks, personality and behavior, but they are both geniuses who believe they are in the right. And you can choose either side.
The ending of Death Note implies Light was in the wrong, but he is still the protagonist. L is kind of dark, quirky weird dude and personality, but he’s an equal challenge to Light and you’re never sure who’s winning.
They clearly love the competition between them, and each other, this is before and after knowing each other’s identities. They are enemies from the start, but they become “frienemies” because it’s the closest thing to a relationship they have in their lives.

Who’s your favorite antagonist and why?
I’m anime only on Vinland but Askeladd already right up there for me. One of the best characters I’ve ever seen period
Meruem and Askeladds character arcs and their conclusions are some of my favorite things in fiction. God tier “villains”
no he was not
The fact you guys are arguing about it makes him an even better antagonist
