Graduated in june and still cant get a job
Thinking to do a masters in finance or financial mathematics, but second guessing cause dont want more debt. Also kinda demotivated to study more before working
F*** covid, please give your thoughts
youll be the most qualified unemployed person on the market
Yeah but without job experience ( didnt do co-op/intern) itll still prob be difficult

wut did you major in, OP
Tbh I got way more out of my masters than my bachelors. I didn't do s*** in undergrad because I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I should have waited to start college.
Really found myself in grad school. Figured out a plan, got better at networking, made friends, generally grew tf up. Now I have a job where that masters nets me a stipend on top of my salary.
But that's just my experience. Just scan the market and see if you really need an MA. Teachers do in my district because it jacks up your rate by default, but not every job needs one.
You should be aight just stay at it
So demotivated since i cant even get interviews
recently finished an MSc in econ. don't think I needed it to get the job I have now but I suppose it helped me stand out amongst applicants.
If you can get into a good school for something like stats/data science i'd say give it a shot but tbh a Bsc in financial maths should be enough. what types of places are you applying to?

hmm it's weird that you're not even getting interviews.
tbf i did do internships and stuff in undergrad then did my masters right after. yh if full time stuff isn't working out no harm in applying for internships (assuming your financial situation allows you to). can leverage that into a permanent position if you do well.
if your marks are good i'd rec economic consulting firms like NERA, cornerstone, a***ysis group, brattle, etc. from what i've seen they don't care as much about work experience as they do aptitude and skills but they do really care about grades and stuff smh

Not really, both English related. I couldn't do anything that excited me with a BA so I moved on to an MA to climb the pay scale and open up the possibility of teaching college courses. It'll pay for itself eventually.

You gon be alright OP dont beat yourself up too much
Finished my master’s last year and I secured a job within two months of graduating. I’d say job placements after master’s depend on the market you are targeting and where. In my area of work, if you don’t have any postgraduate certificate, you won’t be considered. And even if you do, you will never advance in your career. One of my colleagues has two PhDs
Not sure if I'll ever go that far. Bachelors would be enough for me imo. Ive already gotten a free associates degree in spanish, and gonna use that to finish up a bachelors and maybe get some other degrees.
But I cant see myself ever needing a Masters
