unless you going lawyer/doctor/ or something super specialized don't go straight master.

Research shows to not get a masters without a job in recession (we gon be in one for a min)

  • Dec 5, 2020

100% go for it, you’ll stand out from the crowd, I’m currently doing my MRes now, masters by research are even more specialised so you can tailor it to suit what you want to study/the career you are pursuing.

Starting next year. I’m going to combine it with my work tho. Might even get phd in order to not serve in the military lmao.
But if you aren’t going to combine it with working don’t do it in 90% of the cases

    Unless I'm desperate no.
Im happy just to have graduated this year

My debt isnt gigantic but it still sucks d***. I dont want to increase it when the job market actually complete ass.

Sounds like a bad investment unless you're getting a masters that damn near guarantees a job

    this

in europe its basically required to get employment

  • Dec 5, 2020

    doing one right now

Go for it if you know where you wanna go in your career and it'll actually help you get there. Planning ahead is key.

Grad school is great for networking and going in depth with your field of study. But job wise you can pigeonhole yourself as overqualified if you're applying for positions that don't need a masters. That being said, some positions will pay you A LOT more if you have a one.

Not really, both English related. I couldn't do anything that excited me with a BA so I moved on to an MA to climb the pay scale and open up the possibility of teaching college courses. It'll pay for itself eventually.

    What were your majors specifically?

And what’s your job now if you don’t mind

BA in Professional Writing, I wanted to get into copy and publishing but decided it wasn't for me.

My MA is just listed as English. Currently I'm a high school English teacher, I make 60k with a great benefits package and it's my first real job out of college. Hoping to land 70k when I start working in the district.
