if engineering leadership at discord is worth their salt, they'd have all hands on deck to try to pivot and take as much from twitter as they can, they are perfectly positioned. mastodon and the broader fediverse are not a sustainable alternative to what is currently in place and it never will be without centralizing in some way

considering how popular whatsapp and telegram are (and discord itself) they don't need to change much, that format is clearly the future of the medium, that's where the people are, but what i mean is that i think they'd need to add something to challenge established social media order sooner, and get it out quickly while this opportunity is still ripe.
