if engineering leadership at discord is worth their salt, they'd have all hands on deck to try to pivot and take as much from twitter as they can, they are perfectly positioned. mastodon and the broader fediverse are not a sustainable alternative to what is currently in place and it never will be without centralizing in some way
discord staff is too busy at furry conventions and protecting "cub content"
I chose c.im because it's a general instance and has a short af domain
anyone want to follow each other on mastodon? I need to fill my timeline up more
considering how popular whatsapp and telegram are (and discord itself) they don't need to change much, that format is clearly the future of the medium, that's where the people are, but what i mean is that i think they'd need to add something to challenge established social media order sooner, and get it out quickly while this opportunity is still ripe.
Verified accounts is one of the main features the eventual victor will need to implement so journalists and public figures can get going
