    Super Bowl performance was dope

It was, but coming off of Kendrick’s 2024 which was instant classic moment after instant classic moment there was a bunch of room for improvement on this

If you haven’t rewatched it, I would suggest you do.

I watched it a second time and was able to appreciate it more. There was some things I definitely missed the first time and the audio mix being problematic on the Fox stream brought down the quality for a lot of those watching.

  • He can try, but he’d just get dunked on again.

Kendrick is legit a freak of nature.

I’m sure this was exactly what he needed to get back hungry again

But I fear it will just result in more “I’m paranoid because I’m cool and rich and f*** hoes and everyone hates the awesome cool guy, so I’m paranoid they’re going to kill me for being so cool and awesome” raps

    over conductor beat

Comeback has to be amazing music. Simple as that. No more coasting.

I agree. Live watch I didn’t catch the vibe as much, but the replay??? As a fan of both artists, this was tough. Pretty bold he chose to make the SB a performance piece for GNX & this era basically. He just gave that album the biggest boost before tour.

Why does he need to do anything?

He’s 38, dropped 8 solo albums and 2 collab albums. Noted as one of the greatest artists of all time (not just rap) and his legacy is cemented.

He took a swing a Kendrick and lost but most rappers would’ve.

I don’t know why we are all screaming for him to lock himself in the booth for a year to create this masterpiece that most people believe he can’t even do anymore.

I didn’t say quit. He’s going to keep releasing music but it will be what he wants to do rather than think what the audience want.

Especially the same audience who have been laughing at his downfall.

When Kanye did MBDTF it wasn’t because he was mocked by the industry, it’s because he was hated for what he did to Taylor Swift.

He was also mocked by the industry too

It likely won't reach those levels because he isn't getting the backing/boosting from the label or streaming platforms anymore.

counter argument: neither was ye with carnival but look how that turned out
now is 40/hitboy/conductor kanye? no but im saying its not like impossible to get a smash hit minus label backing

but when kanye turned to MBDTF he still made stadium mursik that did insanely well
when drake gets into making music that he wants it falls into caribbean dance hall territory

  • Feb 11

Yeah if by that you mean cost off his popularity

  • On some real musical s***

Drake has to ease up on this recent, extreme adherence to notation in his flows and beat picking at the expense of rhythmic color and weight. Gods Plan being so successful f***ed him up cause it’s like “wait…the rhythms can be low effort as long as the notation/pitch is catchy? Bet”. That’s nursery rhyme s***. I know being melodic is the guy’s whole thing but this inclination has slowly been eating at his rap music for the last 6 or so years, and this is rap at the end of the day - you take it where it needs to be by way of rhythmic gymnastics. Back to basics bucko

  • Not enough

  • Thought they killed the 6 god but its not enough
