A lot of successful artists will admit they wasted time being competitive with certain people and when they actually met them it was all love and they should've collaborated from the start b

Hip Hop had battling in it before it even left the park wtf are you talking about

When did I say hip hop did not have battling before it left the park?

You tried to come off like you were some elitist hip hop historian when you said people who don't like competition in hip hop must be new to the culture/an outsider which is corny and a dumb thing to say because if we really wanna be technical and really get into our hip hop historian bag at the VERY beginning Hip Hop was not competitive, it was party music.

So to assume that someone who doesn't like competition in hip hop must be an outsider makes no sense and like I said is some elitist corny s***.

I said healthy competition brings the best out of artists but it shouldn’t take up 100% of their focus when creating. And you can hear the difference in how much an artists focuses on it within their music

I honestly think drake would create a better album if he focused on it a little less and just created something more personal (mysterious)

the only competitiveness in rap right now is over followers and material objects. None actually inside the music and that is exactly what is missing right now. If a rapper can come out with a f*** everybody y’all wack attitude and pull it off without looking like hopsin that could be the next drake. Long as there’s music to back it up obv

You use the word “corny” a lot to be a person that has a problem with people being competitive in hip hop. Being competitive is apart of the foundation when DJs and rappers were still figuring it out their was competition. Even when hip hop was about partying and having fun the rappers talked about being coolest nigga in that room. They had the most money, the best jewelry, they dressed the, they had the most b****es, etc. you don’t have any of that without feeling the need to be cooler than other niggas.

And I don’t disagree on that but that doesn’t make that aspect of hip hop outdated or corny. Not saying that’s what you said but that’s the convo we’re having itt. I don’t think competition should be an artist #1 focus on their albums either but no one can talk that “I’m the best” s*** without that.
