Everyone isn’t apart of the culture you don’t have to agree with it but the foundation should be respected. The competitive aspect of hip hop is apart of the foundation.

I'm not speaking for everyone b holding on to outdated principles for the sake of culture is exactly why a lot of people fail.

Exactly I’m assuming the people complaining about the competitive aspect in hip hop don’t know anything about the culture rap music is just the most popular genre

Except at its very core hip hop is not competitive, it was a new form of artistic expression that like everything humans get their hands on turned into a competition.

Before DJs battled and MC battled hip hop was just some kids in the Bronx trying to party. Kool Herc in his genius figured why play the whole song when i can just repeatedly loop the best part of the song.

He was an artist at its purist form, just trying to find a new way to do something cool. To me thats what hip hop and all art is about. Competition does sometimes bring the best out of artist but on the flip side brings out the worst in artist.

Thats why ATL been winning for so long, they took hip hop back to its ACTUAL roots, which is fun party music. Y'all keep saying hip hop has always been competitive which is simply not true.

People fail because they suck or it wasn’t supposed to happen for them. There’s a reason the biggest rappers are all competitive and the ones who aren’t last for 5 years at best.

"Sucking" is subjective, and "wasnt supposed to happen" means everything is predetermined which makes competition pointless b

Being "competitive" is part of that show, so they have to come off that way to get the people's attention, even if they aren't at all b

All of this is subjective even the people that win in battles which is why I originally said battling isn’t even supposed to be taken that seriously people are just soft.

Nobody sending shots in songs if they’re not competitive the conversation of being the best doesn’t happen without competition. People would literally just exist.
