Yall also have to realize the environment that Rap was started in

New York is a dog eat dog, survival of the fittest type of environment. New Yorkers have the hustle they have because of how competitive it is, especially with regards to financial status, fashion, etc.

Hip Hop is just as much of a New York cultural creation as it is a Black one. You have to understand that to understand why its inherently so competitive.

I realized I'm arguing with people who have only ever tried competition b

I use to feel the same way as yall, its literally a dead end road b

But until yall have practiced both concepts, it's hard to really take your opinion on which one works seriously b

You’re looking at competition negatively because of your own personal bias. You can’t acknowledge progression without a reference point. You could be jogging in place and you wouldn’t even notice because you refuse to look around.

People can make assumptions and be wrong. It’s life. Why does it have you bothered so much?

There's literally millions of examples of competition stunting artistic growth that have nothing to do with me

Cant show me one example of where pure collaboration with no secret competitive agenda has been toxic b

    Right

The people defending the We are the world BS are thinking in extremes.

Looking at someones talent or success and using that as motiviation to get on your grind is completely normal. To me thats no different than having someone you look at as an idol.

That's not the same as playing dirty to take their spot, or praying for their downfall.

Even people who collaborate find inspiration in one another to improve themselves. That's the same thing that happens when in competition mode, you're just a little more savage with it at times.
