its just more complicated than sports with concrete scores. Gymnastics/dance etc. is often subjective, they just have judges with a list of specific criteria that they base the score off of. Rapping could be the same way but no one actually listens to every single contender, and no one agrees on what the criteria is.

When you're rapping it just feels good to brag and talk s*** and it just sounds good for some reason

It's why 2011 to 2014 era was so goat. The competition was gone and everyone was in their labels and groups making big pushes with each other. Only beef was in street music which is understandable, but there should be no reason for competition when other genres thrive off being friendly and s***.

I love competition... in sports.

In art, the idea of competition doesn't make sense. What someone considers a good acting performance depends on so much personally.

Example: A middle aged white guy debating with a 20 something year old black guy which movie is better; Step Brothers or Friday. Step Brothers is more likely to resonate with the white guy and Friday is more likely to resonate with the black guy. Its a pointless debate.

Truth is, the average listener only has enough bandwidth in their brain for a certain amount of artists to listen to. Truth is, if one artist is popping that may make your lane not as lucrative. Competition is there whether you like it or not, in every facet of life.

You never hear a painter say "NIGGA MY STROKES ARE BETTER THAN THAT P**** ASS NIGGAS AND I F***ED HIS B****" because art is subjective and anybody that thinks that way is a weirdo b
