Can’t have a job (unless it’s making me rich) that i’m stressed out about at home too much, that american dream s*** can eat my left nut
I get what you're saying but work life balance is really important. Idk what you do but it sounds like maybe office work and I would hate to be stuck thinking about that a lot personally
I have a friend who says he loves his job but theres a ton of complaining when he can't get his mind off it.

word I got a buddy doing that too, I think he designs ads/signs for the city or something, he likes it but sounds like theres some unique annoyances too
all i do is work ... i have no friends and no hoes my only goal in life is to become enormously wealthy
Nah, I turn it off immediately
That’s unhealthy u gotta figure out a way to disconnect. Unless you’re a detective or have high stakes in the company you work for you should not allow it to frequent ur mind after u clock out
When you have a career, there is no off switch when you leave the building or close the laptop. There are problems you'll be thinking about, discussions that might come up with your partner / family / friends about work, things you are excited about your future self and where you want to be etc. All while having a separate life outside work
But yeah let's pretend we only think about work at work
I do investment banking, you know how many people burn out cause they don’t switch off
You’re shafting your career long term if you burn out early. Your staffer will encourage you to take your allotted time off or to switch off on a Sunday/Saturday.
Cynical, but you’re not useful to the firm if youre burned out

I have A LOT of friends that did investment banking, two of them became vice presidents at JP Morgan and Vanguard at one point in their careers. They worked 100-hour weeks or more and never talked about burnout because they were young. So from your point, I'm not getting the burned out bit when you're a young healthy teenager/young adult with no kids
Why would you want to do that? It's your main activity every day. It would be unnatural to be able to ignore it afterwards.
Yeah I was like this.
Start work early and end work late. The time spent not working was spent getting better at my craft/learning more about my craft.
Honestly you have two options:
A) Find a job/career you don’t mind taking on up most of your thoughts, and that way you be bothered by work being on your mind.
B) Focus on and do more things outside of work, and that way during and after work you will be thinking about things that you actually care about.
Obviously there’s tradeoffs to both options, but that’s life. There are no solutions in life only tradeoffs. Pick the trade that’s better for you.

yeah, why would you want to take your mind off of work. lol. gtfo.
you need to find something that lights your eyes up, something that makes life worth living. maybe sounds a certain way, but i promise its the truth

I’m good friends with someone from Evercore who graduated in my year and left due to stress
Some people make it some people don’t but I don’t pretend like it’s easy. Totally respect and understand anyone who wants their life back
