How so

people in inventory are among the first to know what's going on because of the shipment process

if they say x product is available TODAY

that means the shipment is already at the store (demo products too)

What was the actual title of your role? Because managing inventory for Apple stores sounds GOAT and I want to research that position. Were you managing a single store’s inventory or a district / region / country?

Operations Specialist at the retail level

so managing one store's inventory mostly

it's one of the most important roles at apple as they are the people bringing out product to customers / specialists on the floor

to go along with managing returns
and shipments from the genius bar

and the actual product inventory obviously

the job itself is simple usually because apple's systems make it nearly impossible to mess up

they have the best
inventory system
i've ever seen

you can manage everything on an iphone

the only time it kind of sucks
is times like these actually

while inventory people
usually know beforehand

it's not like it's a ton of notice

so say they drop new imacs

imagine being responsible for resetting the entire store with new display models and finding room for the new products when there's barely room for all the old ones

and the store is open with the regular traffic / store hours

so there is a small window to get everything done

usually it's done overnight

which isn't unusual for mall retail

but with apple's traffic and
the expectations customers have

it can get pretty hectic

the best part of the job will likely be your coworkers

their hiring process is pretty exhaustive so most people are really cool and or talented

and the stock options are great
