ok im getting M1 Max 32GB 16 inch with that student discount
same. 3200 is not that bad all things considered.
the razer blade advanced with rtx 3080, 32gb ram is similarly priced, and apparently the m1 max gpu is on par with the 3080

i’m just sad because I use Premiere Pro + After Effects as my video editing workflow and it’s badly optimised on the Mac compared to FCPX
should be flying anyway
I’m still running a 2015 Air and it’s done me so well I’m definitely picking this up soon
Same
It’s actually completely sufficient for normal day to day things for the average folk

bro you’ll feel like you upgraded from a third hand Toyota to a Aventador
Expecting the battery on this to be absolute ASS
if you really stress these machines.
depends on what kind of workload you put in it.
for most people I can see this sustaining 11 to 12 hours easily.

I purchased a brand new MacBook Pro this year for work and the battery is so so bad. It drains so fast and sometimes it drains faster than it’s charging I do software dev but it still shouldn’t be this terrible.

which MBP are we talking about, what kind of apps you use for programming (IDE, VS Code?), do you run virtual machines, virtualisation (Docker), are you using Chrome for debugging?
Developing web based stuff or native ones (with an interface/GUI), just terminal/console apps with cli?
Battery duration will be different for a lot of people but I can see any of the M1s lasting that much for sure.

yeah my 2017 16 inch never lasted longer than an hour brand new
now it's like 40 minutes on battery
obviously this is running the CPU at 70% not web broswering
these should be much better though cause Apple Silicon ARM 5nm is a massive upgrade over x86 Intel 14nm in terms of energy usage, if your coming from an Intel one
I have never had the computer discharge faster than the charger though
it sounds like your charger isn't passing the full watts, you checked under system report? you should be able to get apple to fix it or replace the charger they have a year limited warranty
I've run the CPU 100% for hours and it's never done that, sounds broken

I’m sure performance wise but I find it funny that everyone’s hyped about mag safe charging, classic keyboard and no touch bar (which I would’ve loved to use) and I’m like yo I’ve had these for 6 years now
still tho I can’t load up photoshop quickly or do editing so I’m hyped for the speed and retina display

know a lot of people who didn’t cave in for the redesign from 16-late 2019 because of those hardware features they took away.
apple got bullied into bringing them back

Looks like either using edu discount or installment plans disqualifies you for this. Not sure which yet but I am seeing 3% on my edu installment

How much was the discount? You probably got more back than 6 percent.
