1 AMD 5950x
4 6900xt
8 PCIE4 Samsung NVme Drives in RAID 0 for a theoretical speed of 70gbps
1600w PSU
wouldn't be faster than a Dual Xeon Pro but you could get a 64 core Threadripper and beat it in Multicore CPU perfomance
here are some benchmarks of the $7000 Mac Pro vs a $2000 CPU you can build a $3200 Hackintosh with
https://gadgetversus.com/processor/amd-ryzen-threadripper-3990x-vs-dual-intel-xeon-platinum-8280/
look the single AMD chips beats the 2 Intel chips while using far less power
the Mac Pro isn't that great until Apple can get their own Chip in it
anything Intel in 2020-21 is outdated Tech at this point
when the mac pro gets the m1 on steroids with proper cooling
So many horrible takes in this thread from both sides LMFAO.
M1 macbook air and a gaming rig gonna be the meta this decade
No thanks. I like being able to plug more than 2 things into a computer.

and you can't do that on ur gaming rig? P.S the a lot of best windows laptops at the same price points only have thunderbolt 3 ports too so, get used to it

This is the best take on this thread. Gonna roll M1 macbook pro though with PC gaming Rig.
Apple has been and probably will only be good for security, smoother/easier operating system, and the fact that all products sync together flawlessly for me
f*** Tim. f*** apple.
if I lose my s*** cuz my battery wanna be on some s***.
I only have myself to blame but f*** this Macbook "pro"
if my computer loses its data I'm buying a windows this week
I think 2017.
ibakready had issues with the battery and actually the models I had were recalled because of said battery. so my repair was free. but it's just so random cuz it was fine until yesterday when It stopped wanting to charge.

theyre not even better for security anymore... mac's have had more known vulnerabilities than windows machines in the past couple years
Unix based anything is better than s*** Windows.
Can’t do s*** in that trash command line. Programming in general is just so much better on Mac.
Windows has terrible security.. nothing is containerized so apps can easily steal your data and send it god knows where. Also it's a mess, after long enough a Windows install becomes unusable. The way the whole OS works is so outdated. Unix based Operating System are so much more reliable and almost always offer better long term performance.
its so ass. ive never had so many issues updating my machine as I did with windows. I can use a 2012 mac and update it to the latest OS no questions asked....

Idk about that man, backdating a mac to an old OS is pretty atrocious. Additionally finding an older version of a program for an old OS I have also found to be pretty difficult.
The m1 chip makes this post obsolete. Macs are significantly faster computers than their cost-equivalent PC counterpart at this point, especially at the Mac Mini / MacBook Air price points

Name to post ratio astronomical
i dont know how people overpay for imac and any apple product
microsoft is 50% cheaper for the same s***
It used to not be that way. Apple wasn't always the standard. They're great at designing aesthetically pleasing products and marketing them.
With that said, Apple products are satisfying to use and definitely have a great deal of quality to them. What I despise, though, is how Apple seems to introduce certain features that complicate things and are rather gimmicky. I have a 2016 MacBook Pro.
I'm not so fond of the Touchbar because it's actually not all that useful; I prefer actual buttons to control volume, brightness, and keyboard lighting.
The butterfly keyboard mechanism was a total failure. Four keycaps have fallen off, and it's a pain trying to replace and repair. I gave up and got myself a Bluetooth mechanical keyboard to use with it instead. For now, my MacBook Pro acts as a desktop computer held by a laptop stand as I use a separate mouse and a separate keyboard instead. I'm glad they got rid of the butterfly keys for the newer MacBooks, but it's too bad I'm stuck with this problem.
