op actually came correct but they won't like the picks

I think FATD was strikingly similar and Drake was coming off Honestly Nevermind and Her Loss which is almost a reverse combo of Grad/808 combo Ye was coming off. Both are 10/10 masterpieces that came after divisive and popular albums

This bait only has 2 replies so here go one more for you

I feel like Travis is the only one that would actually do it (kinda already did with Rodeo)

I could see Tyler do it if he’d drop his ego about working with other producers

But I guess that ain’t what the thread about

What would constitute a modern MBDTF?

something that’s different from what’s being pushed in the mainstream but still accessible. brings the best out of everybody that’s featured and is critically acclaimed

If Ye was still in the same maximalist highly conceptual and collaborative mood as he was back in 2009/2010, who would make the cut?

I'm thinking artists who would benefit from fully branching into rap and hip-hop, not necessarily as rappers but just offering their talents in a way that would complement that kind of sound, in the same way Bon Iver/James Blake/Charlie Wilson/Cudi/HudMo/Daft Punk/Arca have done in the past

some artists who come to mind for me:

    !https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrZnd92WFY0&ab_channel=COLORS!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvPGwnqQw58&ab_channel=CantCornerTheDorner!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2YUukSc0vs&ab_channel=Jetski!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0pzzkp85-Q&ab_channel=Mkgee!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qHIv3JkP_k&ab_channel=LoukeMan-Topic!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f21gWR8NdC0&ab_channel=BloodOrangeVEVO

Ye would work with legends and hot artists not these underground artists for a modern day MBDTF. So that would probably be Travis, Tyler, Bad Bunny, Cudi, Don Toliver, Ice Spice or Sexy Red, SZA, Westside Gunn, Future, Cole, Kendrick, Abel, and maybe Drake if Ye gets out of his ego lol
