agree that we may not ever get a masterpiece like MBDTF. However Ye has plenty new era tracks that on par or surpasses the MBDTF level of craft.
Ghost Town Pt. 1 & 2
Violent Crimes
Cash to Burn
OG Storm
Slave Name
Hands On
Ye can still make amazing music when he's actually focused but that's his problem, he can't sit his ass down and work on music like he used to. And what sucks is that he has access to way more resources to make music now than when he did back in 09/2010
I feel like Travis is the only one that would actually do it (kinda already did with Rodeo)
I could see Tyler do it if he’d drop his ego about working with other producers
But I guess that ain’t what the thread about
You speaking facts
90210 STARBOY, THE L.A. MONSTER WOULD HAVE A NICKI MINAJ/RICK ROSS TYPE OF ROLE ON A MODERN DAY MBDTF
Modern day mbdtf is DONDA pretty much
TLOP AND DONDA BOTH PRETTY MUCH FOLLOW THE MBDTF FORMULA
Also every Kanye album after Yeezus except KSG Ye and JIK has been a MBDTF remake for that year/trend era
He said this about Pablo himself and both Dondas are the same formula. Maximalist rapping Khaled
That’s Interesting considering , You know what interview?
Tyler
He can’t. Doesn’t have anything interesting to say and doesn’t have the originality
That’s Interesting considering , You know what interview?
Pretty sure it was with Big Boy during JIK rollout but I’d have to look back
He can’t. Doesn’t have anything interesting to say and doesn’t have the originality
It’s funny y’all say that but then swear on your mothers life that some flash in the pan is somehow a creative genius
Like wdym “he has nothing to say”??? lmao
What other album sounds like Igor? Obviously there’s some Pharrell and Ye influences but this whole narrative that he’s just a straight up ripoff Pharrell is so goofy
He can’t. Doesn’t have anything interesting to say and doesn’t have the originality
He could make a typical rap album about having shooters and being rich gang leaders like niggas let Carti and Yachty do over Dr Seuss beats and it would be a classic

What flash in the pan have I called a creative genius? And Igor is ass my guy
And yeah he has nothing to say. Did you listen to Call me when you get lost? What did he really have to talk about that was interesting? What memorable lines were on there?
the real question is which artist can actually make a modern day MBDTF?
lowkey
me

Yeah I hear that but Tyler can’t make a MBDTF.

You in every thread defending every kid who jumps on a playboi carti type beat lol
Also what makes Igor bad in your opinion?
Yeah I hear that but Tyler can’t make a MBDTF.
Idk what you want me to say. They asked who’d do it today and the answer is tyler. Mainstream but does the artsy s*** and diverse af beat wise
CMIYGL Lowkey makes it seem like that type of album is next lol

Ehh not really. From that wave I like Opium, Yeat, and that’s pretty much it. Maybe throw Hardrock in there as well.
I’m not the biggest Igor fan because Tyler singing is borderline unlistenable throughout a lot of it. The production is great and there’s a couple songs I love but it’s just not something I’d ever want to listen to again in full. Maybe saying it was ass was a bit harsh though
If Ye was still in the same maximalist highly conceptual and collaborative mood as he was back in 2009/2010, who would make the cut?
I'm thinking artists who would benefit from fully branching into rap and hip-hop, not necessarily as rappers but just offering their talents in a way that would complement that kind of sound, in the same way Bon Iver/James Blake/Charlie Wilson/Cudi/HudMo/Daft Punk/Arca have done in the past
some artists who come to mind for me:

A big part of MBDTF was that Kanye had a lot to say on there. Tyler is mostly a brag brag rapper. Last few times I heard him rap he ain’t really speaking on anything.
He can make a classic in his own vein but he probably can’t make a MBDTF.
Now Kendrick probably could

Aye see this is a take I agree with. His pitched up singing s*** definitely wasn’t it but the production and way he orchestrated the album was pretty amazing
Now like I said earlier itt imagine if he dropped his ego and actually worked with other people and producers to achieve something bigger like Ye does
I still disagree about him “having nothing to say” tho. CMIYGL felt overall more like a mixtape but there’s still songs where he’s saying something. I obviously don’t expect him to come with Kendrick level writing or anything but what on MBDTF was even that deep other than gorgeous? A majority of the album is just Ye talking about fame and not even in a really deep or creative way. It’s just very very good musically
