Nero 92this is why modern day comic book fans are annoying. They can't accept someone else's unique interpretation of their favorite character and will nitpick anything.
like nobody in 2002 was complaining about Peter Parker having organic web slingers and being an average nerd instead of the smartest teenager on the planet but now that's an actual criticism from man baby comic book fans.
wtf Superman snapped Zod's neck instead of throwing him down a hole to die and never stopped to save a little girl's cat out of a tree despite spending more than half the movie helping working class people in big and small ways. Oh my god, that's not my supes.

mjpplusBut see pulling from one strict canon restricts the creator. Matt Reeves for example isn’t pulling from one iteration of Batman for his version, he’s pulling from many. That Batman is just one of many different on screen Batmen.
I’m not saying I want a Batman who uses a AR-15 in the movies but there’s precedent for Batman using a gun. Restricting creators of these adaptations to one canon just makes for more cookie cutter capeshit
seeing how the character parents lives were taken by gun violence his aversion to guns makes sense he wouldn’t wanna cause the same pain he has to another person.
batman would basically be the punisher in a bat suit at that point when he has so much intelligence and willpower
The comics also set a precedent of catwoman being a prostitute but i don’t see that explored enough

Don't they have more canceled projects than confirmed ones at this point? They could have done a DC Graveyard show where they go over all the plans they had for now canceled projects.

Different interpretations of characters use different elements of a character's history retconned from canon or not because these films are adaptations and interpretations, not 1:1 remakes
