Some tips about working on Muddy Mixes
Remember to go into the 200-500hz area and use really careful Mid/Side EQ
Im working on a sampled track that has a lot of resonance in that area, and I didnt realize how muddy it was

I think it comes with practice and eventually confidence. I don't really know. But what im saying is that you are learning the tools in a very organic way.
In that way you are learning how to mix, and honestly I feel like the best mixers don't really care too much for the technicals. It just makes you have more tools to shape the feel. I also feel like if you focus too much on the technicals you pay too much attention to them and not enough to the feel.

Yeah let me not put myself down and say when I do send my bounced tracks to real engineers they always say I do a good job and sometimes ask if I got this mixed professionally 90% of the time so I do a decent job, but with you and everyone’s words in here words and thinking about how Keef mixes and how people like Alex Tumay talk, ima just keep doing me, all stems will be sent to the label for “industry standard” anyway s

Sounds like the move man.
And that's awesome I've never sent anything into be done professionally so I've never gotten feedback. I really need to thought, it sounds like a great learning experience.

Yeah I haven’t either yet just a nigga from my hometown that happens to have a gospel Grammy and a couple label people who critique/shit on you if they feel like something wack that’s the real learning experience, I compare everything to the wrestling business to get on in the early stages of the music business I think this is a Vince McMahon quote “you gotta learn to eat s*** and like it”
This is a typical mix I just did that I would probably tweak multiple times

Also need to find a way to make this song way less drake because I’m giving the hook to this female artist who’s crazy talented and that’s the only thing that separates it from just being Thank Me Later essentially
