Multiband compression on drums can be really helpful if you're trying to obtain some depth to your mix

Yup as well as vocals
Edit: Thought this said parallel compression wtf is wrong with my eyesight

Parallel compression and multiband compresssion both do wonders on vocals especially pop vocals.
Parallel for pop cause you want to preserve a lot of the natural vocals plus the desired effect, and multiband cause silibance, plosive, and frequency control is also really important
Make sure u mfs using them vintage eq’s and compressors on your main instruments for dat flava but not too much of the same 1

I would agree but tbh I just ad Pro-Q3's on most of my instruments, and then saturate after mix down, vintage stuff tends to colorize a little too much
Plus if u are using UAD stuff, I really try to delegate DSP to the bare minimum

The whole point of them is to colour! U just make sure u use the ones with the characteristics ur looking for in particular instruments. So if ur using APIs on all the guitars or whatever keep it only on the guitars. It adds density and saturation and contrast compared to the other instruments and helps them stand out pro tip

thats true
Also guys don't change up your mix and 2 bus up that much
Find out what works for you and keep it relatively the same while changing things and moving stuff around here and there
Also mixing as im creating is usually what gets me the best result.
Keeps everything glued together while still having their own distinction, you're playing & mixing in real time, & it saves on time.

Does an audio interface with a s*** ton of inputs and lowish price exist? I really dont understand why they get so expensive
Does anyone else here use Sonarworks SoundID? I just made the upgrade from Reference 4 a few days ago and it has a new feature to emulate other playback systems. Its a huge help for checking how mixes translate on different speakers and headphones. I would recommend it for sure.

They get expensive cause some of them have plugins and dsp a la UAD. Focusrite not really but they are generally cheaper
I would say get a Tascam, theres r cheap

Nah just slam a fairchild on the master ez
Really good watch. Kicks/snares specifically are very very powerful. If u make trap it's easy to go 808 heavy in the mix, but just as much impact can come just from your kicks and snares!
Having a high frequency sound like a cymbal, open hat or any other type of samples really has a lot of the impact w/ kicks. Great for drops.

It’s still on sale for 3 more days. As soon as I saw the deal, I had to take advantage of it and I only had to pay $200 since I qualified for the upgrade.
Maybe this is more an engineering thing idk I put it in the producer thread too
Im blown away by how the sample is done on Christian Dior Denim Flow to create the melody for the hook
Maybe I’m just a noob starting out studying samples but the way that if you sing the hook of CDDF along with it when the beat drops, different elements of the hooks melody are just from the instruments, but not in a linear way. The bells for the “but I don’t know why” the violins for “calling youuuu”. The cadence is the drum pattern. Ye truly practices what he preaches in interviews about music because this is exactly what he said about sweeping melodies in Heartless
