i was watching a review
and some dude was bringing up so many points i disagreed with as criticism
like when he referred the the kids tryna kill jake's son by leaving him alone in water he was like "KIDS DON'T ACT LIKE THIS WAY'
bro this is a primal species wtf is he talking about. if you're from an outside tribe ofc they dgaf if they're younger/not noble
that's such nitpicky bullshit lol, maybe an average kid wouldn't do that but we all know of cruel bullies when we were younger and with the extreme prejudice those kids showed to the Sully family when they got there it's not surprising that it would manifest in a cruel prank like that.
random point to bring up but i've been watching all reviews positive and negative
and im not saying you have to like this movie
but some people seem like they just hate the concept of avatar and have this chip on their shoulder thinking ppl just like this movie for the way it looks and try so hard to s*** on the 'story'
than i see another review on like f***ing wild hogs from the same person and that concept goes out the window like Bill Review Guy you don't have to act like all you watch is citizin kane its okay
idk if this has been touched upon itt yet but i def get the sense that they were setting up Kiri in this film to be the main kid in the next film the same way Lo'ak was kinda the main kid in this one (obviously the film didn't really have any set main characters but u get what i mean in how he's kinda the main focus/is the one expressing many of the main themes of the film).
Things like the connection she feels to Grace and her epilepsy were touched upon but not really expanded upon, feel like they're gonna go more in depth with these aspects of her in 3.
when this movie was about fathers and sons and the next movie about mothers and daughters and focuses on Neytiri and Kiri

that's exactly what I was thinking as, like others, I noticed that Neytiri wasn't as huge in this as the last film until the final act. That's the exact direction I'm think James is going with this.
I really enjoyed this. Visually one of the most stunning movies I’ve ever seen, no question. The plot and characters were significantly improved from the original imo… the family dynamic was really well-done, and the new characters were the best part of the movie. Still some cliched parts, but overall this easily accomplished the most important thing it needed to do for me, which was make me genuinely invested in the world and characters. Can’t wait for Avatar 3.

Yeah I wasn’t a huge fan of the first one but this went brazy. Definitely the best CGI I’ve ever seen. It was almost distracting because I’d be admiring it so much I’d miss the dialogue Lmao
so im confused on the villains motives in this
he wanted revenge but only hunted jake who didnt even kill the holder of his memories? lol
Jake was the leader of the insurgent group that was killing many humans. Revenge aside, they wanted to take him down over that.

I was really excited for this movie. I thought James had a terrific opportunity to build on an incredible world. But alas, all that time to develop the technology, but so little was put into developing the characters. Such a disappointment.

Your point aside, kids do cruel s*** like that to each other all the time
This s*** felt like the old school and the future at the same time.
When Neytiri took off after the eldest son died…

Hit the nail on the head of what makes the Avatar series so special
This movie was f***ing stellar
Impeccable
i really wish the could've explored more the island the water clan lived on. i know obviously the focal point would be the shore but they should've dug in there a tad idk a little river trip to the middle or something
Still find it a little funny the na’vi avatars just need a little ammonia to breathe in to live around the humans in their environment
eh I didn't like this
same generic story as the first one more or less, just with beaches instead of a forest
no stakes in whether the villain dies or lives cause they can just reclone him anyways
how many times did they have to use the "kids going where they were told not to" trope to advance the story
also found the 3d effects pretty underwhelming. thirteen years of advancing technology but the first film used 3d better imo
the dialogue was very bad
some parts I liked and the three hours went by fairly quickly, but this was pretty disappointing and not sure I'd watch the third one
jake: what did the other guys look like
Netayam: worse.. much worse
Jake: good ;) get outta here
balled my eyes out at the end when they visited Neteyam and seeing Jake cry because he could see him again. that s*** hurt my feelings. this is also f***ing wild because we literally spent no time with him at all and for his death to have such an emotional impact was proof of how well executed the family’s storyline was.
man this movie was exhilarating and beautiful and so heartfelt. absolutely cliche in so many ways yet you don’t care or feel it as much because you’re so entranced by this world and want to continue to be in it.
didn’t expect the story to be so focused on the kids, was thinking that would be for Avatar 3 but they made this film so interesting and different from the first. f*** this movie was awesome. probably my favorite of the year. truly well done and just continues to make me reinvested in this story.
f*** spider though jesus what a stupid character especially after that dumb ass move to save his dad only to go back to Jake and the family. guess that’ll be the big problem in A3.
