My Turn was deservedly praised, I thought the general consensus around his last album was that it was a come-and-go album
that album was garbage bro lmao
most of the prod sounded like type beats and splice loops, and lil baby was as uninteresting as ever
garbage project
Facts
That s*** was ridiculously mid and Lil Baby’s goodwill he earned after My Turn and his 2021 run spared him from a lot of slander.
That's not true. Perhaps you haven't listened to a lot of her stuff.

“I bet your A&R knew he struck gold with that easy listening, middle of the road”
“I break up weed on your fourth generation imitation Premier beats, that’s not the flavor and TRUST you’re not doing the 90s no favors”
That beat is atrocious, no one was doing s*** with that.
I see you and I raise you:

its silliness
Idk she hit the nail on the head that many of those white Anthony Fantano’d ppl d*** ride him as some “I’m with you brother ✊🏻” stance and also on some weird stance of “this is how Hip Hop should be! Not this modern mumble rap and talking about f***ing women!” (basically some back handed compliment of how a black man should be).
Whether y’all will admit this or not that is a driver for a huge portion of Kendrick’s support and acclaim.
I think she kind of right but 90’s cali rap was cool. Now I don’t know they all trash to me. Sob was cool. The bay is cool. But Kendrick overrated though. The music ain’t there.
At least Doja is making music of some kind instead of wasting her talents on chatty patty social media bullshit.
I have about as much respect for Azealia as I do for Akademiks at this point.
honestly im just pretty satisfied with the idea of Doja trying something different rather than just staying within her niche regardless, there hasn’t really been any mainstream artists trying to break out of their box (besides Drake w/ HVNM, i suppose) so i can at least appreciate the mindset tbqh
i wasn’t too keen on the single myself, but it certainly wasn’t terrible lol
Kendrick stans try to not be the worst fanbase on this site for once.
Idk son, it might be neck and neck cuz when Honestly Nevermind sales dropped iHype was putting up numbers protecting Drake's name
That thread was a classic

Drake stans make s*** personal because he's their entire personality
the kendrick is for white people thing is like such a classic KTT post
A lot of ''real hip-hop Twitter'' today is a bunch of white, teen boys who like rap music but have no real entry point into it because none of it relates to the lives they live so they do what people who ''wanna be down'' do, they go to what they feel is the most authentic representation of that kind of music and hail it as the best and anyone not making music in the same vein is seen as terrible/wack.
Those kids think any rapper who raps about ''the struggle'', racism, social issues is a ''real'' rapper and everyone who doesn't do that, isn't.

But I dont put what white people do with Kendricks music onto Kendrick.
Hes both used by disingenuous nerdy white people and a genius artist.
Azalea lost me cuz Kendrick do got a lot of corny white fans but so does Drake lmao idk what the argument is here tbh the big 3 from that era all had white fanbases
if that single is what’s to come prod wise that album is gonna be rough, but i feel like there’s gonna be a lot better s*** on the project
i was just thinking if she was gonna go boom bap she might as well just go full dust and get some Alchemist and Griselda beats lmao
Drake stans make s*** personal because he's their entire personality
That thread had so many classic moments, like 5 different niggas caught mutes
And I think that stuff applies to all rap because rap is a black genre consumed mostly by white folks.
I dont tax Lil baby and Youngboy because their music is for white kids who want to live out hood fantasies or whatever, thats not their fault. It only matters if the music is being made to intentionally appease those white people and I dont see any reason to believe it is.

Alchemist said he got records with her and that she was really rapping on em so who knows.
That single might have been some little teaser s*** just to ease her fans into that
Drake stans make s*** personal because he's their entire personality
literally the definition of a parasocial relationship
them and Kanye stans need to genuinely have a psychiatric study or some s*** for science, it’s unprecedented
