I'd argue Cudi was more influential in bridging the gap between rock and rap in the new generation.

At least Cudi actually seemed to be a rock fan and he didn’t just do it for one album

What Lil Wayne did is like Snoop Dogg’s publicity stunts when he suddenly released a reggae or a gospel album

The worst narratives I’m aware of are that offbeat rapping is new, that Drake was the first rapper to successfully incorporate singing into his style and that rappers showing emotion/vulnerability is a recent trend

Sorry but no it’s not lol

    It’s just grouped cool

    It’s 3 measures of 4/4, a measure of 2/4, and then 2 measures of 4/4

    Does that on a loop

That’s a lot more practical than reading 11/4 as a time signature

Now why would I wanna go thru all that when I could just write 11/4 lol

Facts. I'm a big Wayne fan but I never saw Rebirth as anything more than a trash gimmick record.

And latching on to its "influence" to boost it up doesn't change that.

Now why would I wanna go thru all that when I could just write 11/4 lol

You could, but if you were to put a piece of music in 11/4 in front of a group of musicians they would not be very happy with you lol

If you’re writing out a piece of music you always always have to do what’s easiest for the performer. Can you imagine trying to keep time in an 11/4 time signature? Or trying to conduct an 11/4 time signature? It’s just really not practical whereas multimeter measures are extremely common.

Idk if this counts as a narrative but I think people tend to conflate rapping ability with subject matter.

I.e: A mediocre rapper rapping about social justice and equality will be held in higher regard than a good rapper who focuses on the materialistic or violent side of hip hop

That s*** flopped hard and nobody ever made that music again lol

It’s like the most commercialized, overproduced, autotuned, cheap, pop rock album by someone who doesn’t like rock

    It’s not creative it’s just a gimmick

I feel like rappers making rock albums is cursed, they’re always like the worst albums

One bad narrative is the notion that you need to be "Ja Ruled" in order to truly lose a rap beef.

First off, there were many factors that lead to Ja's demise besides the 50 beef.

Also, most rappers understand disses are just competition and they live their ordinary lives apart from the beefs.

A rich rapper who stays out of trouble is not really gonna take a serious L from no damn rap beef lol. You can lose a rap beef and still get W's in other areas and have a good music career.

Puffy's lying ass said in an interview awhile back that this song wasn't aimed at nobody. Don't ever trust anything that comes out of his lying mouth.

Because you'd write 11/8, not 11/4. lol. as a piano player 11/4 doesn't make sense.

Also unless you doing some math rock s*** or crazy avant garde stuff, you not doing nothing in 11.

Honestly, Skrillex was the worst EDM producer to come out of that era.
