I.e: A mediocre rapper rapping about social justice and equality will be held in higher regard than a good rapper who focuses on the materialistic or violent side of hip hop

I’m not saying it’s impossible to be off beat but allot of my favorite newer rappers just hit different pockets or have more swing in a flow.
And even then, music doesn’t have to be on a beat. Music can be anything. Literally.
Wrong.
The opinion part is only wether you like or dislike something, or how you think something should be, which is the subjective aspect of music. Thats it tho for the most part.
You can like music off beat, but off beat is still off beat & if a genre is accustomed to being on beat then those off beat in said genre will be looked at as bad by the majority (which there are genres that play off beat on purpose & develop the whole sound and structure around it).
Your personal likes or feelings doesnt change the actual measurement & tempo of music.
