By the rejects of society. MJ had the world moving for decades.

I've admitted multiple times ITT that he was, in fact, more popular overall.

I agree with you on that one.

Hell, even Janet's put out more acclaimed albums than her brother, and overall, her singles have been more popular on American charts.

Perhaps not worldwide, tbh, but still, that's quite a feat, considering who he was.

Control -> Rhythm Nation -> Janet -> Velvet Rope is an absolutely insane discography stretch

That has to count for something. We’re not talking like interesting or cool songs, we’re talking like, timeless, timeless songs that will probably play after we’re dead. I don’t think the same will happen with Prince and I don’t think it has to do with popularity.

I'd say 'Damita Jo' would've been acclaimed had JT's bullshit not occurred.

I disagree on the song part of your statement, but whatever.

Same tbh… I’ll admit he was fresh and definitely had an undeniable edge to him. Outside of I would Die for U I don’t think he has any real legendary tracks. And the ones people would call legendary feel outdated and square imo…

"Outside of 'I Would Die 4 U.'" That tells me everything I've needed to know.

    Alright, thanks.

Where as with MJ you will simply have to move every time Rock With You comes on every day till you die. That’s real musical power

it def got the short end of the stick due to the JT bullshit but realistically i don't think it was touching her prior discog at that point regardless - it would have commercially done better though for sure. All For You isn't bad either but I think after Velvet Rope (prob her magnum opus) she wanted to climb down a bit from the more artsy & conceptual direction she was going in prior, likely since her life was changing a lot for the better.

Yeah, but tbh, I believe it's miles better than 'All for You' as a body of work.

Like you guys like to seem intellectual or something. There are way too many skips on Prince’s discography to come close to MJ just what it is

Wrong, there were tons of Prince’s and only one MJ. Just facts

There's only one boyband member who went on to have a successful solo pop career? I can name 10

That said, the titular track on "All for You" was an exemplification of timeless music.

One interesting thing to note: Janet arguably had a lot more chart success at her peak than Prince did

But look at their Spotify numbers as of today:

    Prince : 11'407'543 monthly listeners

Janet Jackson : 5'658'937 monthly listeners

    Idk, man.

MJ has a plethora of skips in his discography.
