Dark Urge is so much more fun. tbh feels like this is what the default run should be.
I been saying that to people but they dont believe me and always think dark urge = evil run which couldnt be more wrong. Redemption urge is fantastic and pairs up so well with characters like shadowheart, like laezell, minthara. While characters like Jaheira and Minsc in the later game offer a new threat and perspective since they travelled with your main character in BG1 and 2 who followed a similar plot
Its amazing as first playthrough and is extremely compelling. You get alot more personal connection to the plot.

Wouldnt be surprised if this really was the original normal run, then for whatever reason they decided it was too dark or whatever and stripped it down for the generic Tav run. Cause there's no benefit at all to NOT going DU, it really is just less content.

It wasnt a thing in the early access atleast. So I think genuine development was something later down the line.
I honestly think they did it well. Its a great nod to the original games who feature a similar character and story but Larian are also fully about players choice and freedom to shape their own story

Yeah whether you resist or give in it's just way more fun imo. Dark Urge always for me from now on.
Also stopped myself from butchering Shadowheart last night didn't even have to save scum it
Dark Urge definitely feels like the most canonically accurate main character - it has the most natural dialogue and ties into the main story
I’m annoyed I didn’t pick it for my second playthrough: the next time I do play it though I will go for it…

Saw someone compare it to Revan and I was like

Turn based combat in 2023 man
The combat is my least favorite part of the game but it's also like half the reason people love it It's all ultra DnD nerd s*** (which is cool, just not my thing realy and I'm s*** at it which is why I play baby Explorer mode)
Best combat that came out in the last 5 years
Turn based bro
It’s 2023. Hit me up when they make a mod
I’ll only get this if goes on Xbox sale over Christmas week

Yeah its 2023 and a turn based combat system never looked and played any better
No mod needed when this the best gameplay that came out all year outside of Armored Core 6

Alright bro
I promise I’m trying to be open minded but paying AAA retail for a game where you gotta wait 18 seconds to attack an enemy is insane
Maybe I’m just not seeing it as a strategy game

Obviously not every game is for everyone its all good.
Gameplay and combat shines with freedom and countless options once you get the hang of it. Its like there is no „no“ whatever you think might work will work. So you can play around alot with the freedom and constantly discover new approaches. If thats not pulling you thats fine to each their own

Yeah the combats really the only thing stopping me from enjoying the game, everything else is top tier. Maybe i’m just not creative enough with thinking of ways to kill enemies or i’m not using my build correctly, but on the easiest difficulty i’m struggling to get through fights that I feel should be easy.
I pretty much try to avoid fighting whenever I can. I could see how it’s fun for some people but if you don’t enjoy turn based combat already this definitely won’t make you a fan.

I love this game but this is just straight up wrong brother
