Yes they do showcase the what if alternate time s*** but hear me out.
The Flash through a self precieved heroic and selfless act, saves his mom. That actually turned out to be a selfish act that had crazy repercussions.
So in a selfish act he saves someone.
But just like Aang, he was put in a situation where he may have to selflessly break his moral code to save the day and everyone else by killing Reverse Flash. But nope Batman pops up and does it for him so he doesn't have to make a hard choice
Thomas shouldve died earlier in the fight so that Flash couldve done what he needed to do thematically

He's just such a plot hole like shouldn't this man be handling most of the world's issues solo or at the very least be more active outside his city?.
