No critics crying for inclusion of the 14 year old girlfriend that factually happened?
Sounds about white to me
Lol biopics made with approval by estates usually don’t highlight things that would make lead characters completely unlikable - there’s a reason we didn’t see Dre beating up women in Straight Outta Compton

Slippery slope you're standing on there kingofpop

Of course, but the press failing to mention it is the funny thing to me

Absolutely not. Elvis factually had those relationships and the press do not mention it.
Jackson was factually innocent and yet the press are crying to include those allegations in an irrelevant musical.

Oh I see what you mean. Yeah, I remember many articles upset that SoC didn’t include the assaults.
Of course it would be odd to see the Priscilla angle play up the 14 year old fact, considering they went on to marry and have a kid, and she seems to still be supportive of Elvis. If the movie presented it as it was, it would be very uncomfortable for the viewer since the victim in the scenario would never acknowledge it as such
Cry about it. The facts don’t lie.
I'm willing to let sleeping dogs lie in everybody's past but I just think it's funny I come in this thread and instantly see a the MJ stan of all people throwing shade rich

Not rich at all, and don’t be delusional.
Let’s look at the facts:
White man factually had underage relationships, namely with a 14 year old, silence from the media
Black man vindicated of all claims in life and death, media crying about including those allegations 24/7 even in a musical set before the allegations ever happened
It’s funny.

The media has their favourites.

How often do you hear about Chuck Berrys jail stint in the fifties for his dalliance with a 14 year old? And even if that was possibly a frame up from whitey he definitely got caught with cameras in the bathrooms of the restaurant he owned in the '80s and a whole bunch of other gnarly s***. You don't hear about it because he wasn't in interviews talking about how it was okay like Michael was talking about how sleeping with kids was okay.
Elvis's relationship with Priscilla is definitely gross in retrospect but it was not that weird for those boys that were raised down south back then. Jerry Lee Lewis is a white man who famously ruined his career when he married a 13 year old but when he was a kid his older 12-year-old sister got married off so it was normal to him. Super gross but it was the times.

The media have given this bullshit a blind eye for one reason.
“It was just the time” does not fly and would not fly if it was Jackson in a relationship with a 14 year old woman and that is a fact.

I just explained how it didn't fly back in the day for everybody and we've already seen the really dark times of several black musicians lives glossed over in biopics. that's not the reason we celebrate these artists, it's not the inspirational part of the story.
Unfortunately it's become such a central part of Michael's story and I've told you before I'll give you the benefit of the doubt after all your research that you've done but he did himself no favors with all the stuff he said and interviews.

It’s not a central part of Jackson’s story, especially when you are running a musical set in 1992 before Jackson had ever met, or was accused of child abuse for the first time.
Yet the press screamed and cried for weeks on end that it didn’t include the allegations. Where’s the fairness in that?

We've been over this a lot of times over the years and you don't want to acknowledge the fact that Michael has made his own bed with the s*** he says in interviews
Austin Butler killed this by the end of the movie I had become so used to his face as Elvis that it was jarring as f*** to see the real Elvis again

The interviews do not, in any way, mean that the press treatment is justified. Good lord.

I already said it was unfortunate? If you're saying you want a disclaimer before the movie to say Elvis was a pedophile or every interview to bring up Priscilla I know you don't want the same treatment for Michael because it just distracts from the music

Imma be honest I feel like there’s some confirmation bias going on here
You say the press screamed for weeks on end - I have never even heard of the musical you’re talking about. Definitely haven’t heard the controversies over not including the allegations.
And at the same time, googling “Elvis movie” provides this as the third article (behind two box office projections):

Lol let’s be real here. Did anyone do this sort of stupid s*** for the Elvis film?
variety.com/2022/scene/news/mj-michael-jackson-musical-1235169558/amp
By law, Jackson did nothing wrong. Elvis fathered a child with this woman. Equal treatment, at the least, must be too much to ask for.

No, again, my point is to the media and their representation.
Every review of MJ the musical (a 4 time Tony winner, featuring the youngest ever lead Tony winner) include the allegations. It’s set before the allegations ever happened. Or before he’d ever met the family. Yet the press and theatre critics cry and cry about including them?
Elvis fathered a child with this woman, yet no one mentions the fact they got together when she was 14?
Equal treatment, at the very least. Jackson by law is innocent. Elvis, factually had this relationship. Why is the representation so different?

In my opinion it's because of the things Michael said in interviews and I know you don't agree. The fact that Chuck Berry and several other black artists legacies are still intact despite a bunch of sketchy s*** proves it's not entirely racial. If you don't understand the difference between a southern redneck marrying a teen girl half a century before a black man was trying to explain away sharing a bed with some white boys then I don't know what to tell you.
