In my opinion it's because of the things Michael said in interviews and I know you don't agree. The fact that Chuck Berry and several other black artists legacies are still intact despite a bunch of sketchy s*** proves it's not entirely racial. If you don't understand the difference between a southern redneck marrying a teen girl half a century before a black man was trying to explain away sharing a bed with some white boys then I don't know what to tell you.
Jackson was a media target long before the “things he said” and in fact said the things he did because he was a target.
The two are unfairly held to a different standard, especially considering the one who actually did do wrong is praised more than the innocent man.

idk i definitely feel like MJ gets all the praise and Elvis is getting increasingly less relevant. Everybody on earth knows Thriller is on the shortlist for best albums ever but nobody can name a single Elvis album. won't argue too hard about different standards.

Yes, but MJs praise is 100% natural and in spite of the incredible efforts of companies to persuade the public otherwise.
It is a testament to the truth & MJs connection with the world that this is the case.

dont make me pull up with quotes from James Brown, Little Richard, Fats Domino and the rest of his peers who were there at the time and had tremendous respect for him and his art
Lol let’s be real here. Did anyone do this sort of stupid s*** for the Elvis film?
https://variety.com/2022/scene/news/mj-michael-jackson-musical-1235169558/amp/
By law, Jackson did nothing wrong. Elvis fathered a child with this woman. Equal treatment, at the least, must be too much to ask for.
So I’m agreeing that the press should have the same energy for Elvis that they have for MJ.
But there are plenty of articles talking about this exact topic. It’s not like some media blackout on it, if you Google it you’ll find plenty. The article you linked was about an individual Variety reporter asking questions about MJ’s allegations at the premiere and getting kicked out. I would not be surprised to see Austin Butler getting asked about Elvis’s grooming.
All that said, it’s not terribly surprising given the difference in public awareness between the two. MJ had a massively publicized trial in the last 20 years over this, had a huge documentary a few years ago about it, and the topic made him a punching bag in all sorts of media through the 90s and 2000s. Elvis grooming Priscilla is gross, but it’s not a widely known fact about him.

What?
Yes, at the time, Elvis was widely praised. Jackson took that and then some lol.

Not worth debating this on KTT of all places. 90% of people on here are braindead.

Lol an actor who played a popular superman gets on my f***ing nerves too and won't be sad when he dies either
…. So anyway did those of y’all who saw the movie like it? Is it something I need to rush out and see or wait till streaming

No, I never said that. I only commented on MJs praise, and how it goes against all media attempts.
Elvis is praised and lauded by publications and people, but never connected with the world the way MJ did
Hating Elvis still in 2022 is cringe
No hate, just asking why the media aren’t clamouring to mention his relationship with a 14 year old that ended up with his only daughter.
They love to shoe horn MJs controversies into everything, related or not. Fair playing field too much to ask, clearly.

Considering the archaic age of media that Elvis came from I'd say it's still pretty impressive that you can find stans in every nook of the world and he had a huge impact on like Japan and alot of weird places. He's second only to Charlie Chaplin as far as crystallizing the American Dream with a product the rest of the world couldn't resist.

Can hardly think of any biopic that wouldn't be totally bogged down by the dark times if you were to focus on those as much as the actual thing the person is notable for

it was good
not a must see imo but still good
