not sure why yet, but "the bells" does something to me inside ha. this song is phenomenal... the first few seconds, i was like wtf is this a country song? but after that, they did such a good song making it sound like a classic rock hit.

finale and hurts to love too.. volume 4 is so damn good

yo. this is a long ass album. and really...samey. idk how to feel

the instrumentation is delightful as always (loved the acoustic guitars) but for 18 tracks i think they needed to find more interesting ways to vocally produce Victoria. the vocals and lyrics stifle the other elements over such a long runtime

    chapter 1 > 3 > 4 >>> 2

chapter 1 set the bar too high. based on my first listen of 7, i can tell i won't revisit this as much as i do that album but of course it's good. Beach House doesn't make bad music

This could have been trimmed down a bit, I will say. It monotonously drags on too long. I dig it though for what it is.

Definitely, felt like I was listening to the same song over and over at times.

which isn't very out of character for Beach House, but on an album this long it doesn't work nearly as well

also another reason why i like 7 so much, it's their most varied and distinguishable imo

yeah the highs on DC, bloom and lucky stars are great, but they are just OK/good albums because they don't vary as much. my favourite beach house is devotion cause every song is a mood, but 7 is def great as well

I did love the first listen but it for sure felt long. That said, the 4 parts thing did kind of finally click. I think I’m going to have to start viewing it that way to really let the back half grow on me, because I listened back to a few this morning and I can already tell a few new favorites

One of their weaker ones but still great, plenty of really good material here surrounded by solid material that flattens things as an album experience. Big Thief did a better job of sequencing their double and spicing it up with left turns. Regardless, there's way too much good here for less than an 8/10.

Going to try to do a full listen again tonight less stoned and not at midnight when I’m tired lmao, but mainly with the idea that these are meant to be chapters rather than one large monolith. Like, I feel like it’ll be a bit more digestible with tangible starts and ends

I definitely think P4k is on some s*** calling this their worst album, it’s hard to digest for sure but the highs are incredible and the lows aren’t even low, just same-y in a long single listen

they really said this is their worst album? lol. this is easily one of their bests, s*** it might be their best

Yeah 7.8 which is wild as f***

Ironically, even though the listen did get kind of long, the experimentation here is the main standout. Like, I don’t think any of these songs could’ve been on any of their previous albums besides maaaaybe a couple feeling like they could’ve been on 7, but even that’s a stretch

    Masterpiece

  • Feb 18, 2022

If you trim this down to 12 or so tracks you have easily the best Beach House album

  • Feb 18, 2022

    New beach house?
