Tbh it’ll be more rewarding to work your way towards Rubber Soul instead of skipping straight to it because there is an evolution from Please Please Me- Help!, Rubber Soul was just when they took a HUGE leap creatively and became the revered band everyone knows them for.
i did this for the first time last year and i ran back the white album so much i damn near didn’t listen to abbey road and let it be

WESLEYS THEORY1. Music back then in general was usually around the 2 to 2 and a half minute mark in length. Which is ironic, because I feel like we’ve been going back towards that with how fried attention spans are thanks to social media.
2. Stereo was new at the time, and the standard way to consume music was through mono (1 speaker with everything coming out of it). Because the recordings were made using limited-track tape, entire groups of instruments or vocals were often locked together and placed entirely on one side. So half of the audio tracks would be completely panned to the right (like…vocals and bass for example) and the other half would be panned to the left (guitar and drums).
It’s really a struggle to listen to those songs with the hard panning today. The best way to consume The Beatles music as intended is to listen to the original mono mixes, and then the contemporary remixes in stereo they’ve done over the last decade or so which mostly fixes the panning issue.

If you mean mainly 50s/60s white rock n roll / British rock then maybe, I'm not as familiar
And of course this ain't talm bout ish like Jazz which was a popular genre at the time of the 50s n 60s that had tracks of 4mins to 7mins with 8 to 12 songs
It just depends, and seems more like a stylistic / finding their feet type of thing from the Beatles regarding time length

like artists like the Supremes and Beatles compared to the rest you mentioned
also Little Richard didnt have a single song above 3 minutes until the mid 60s lol but yeah its mostly a genre thing with the most pop stuff vs the rest which could vary. and still some of these other artists like BB King (his earlier albums still almost all 2-3min songs) or whatever didnt start stretching out the songs on studio albums as much until later 60s, its definitely still a broader trend that applies

Just got done listening to "Please Please Me" for the frist time and I will say that did not sound like the Beatles like a whole dofferent band.
Probably not something ill go back and listen to often but definitely had fun with this 2.5/5
similar thoughts towards "With The Beatles" the she sound is fun but ultimatly like what i said to @Uhhhhhh for that particular style of music I'd rather just listen to theuir American contemporaries. 2/5.

I will say based on my first reaction the stereo issue is still there but the jump in quality is very noticeable like the second you press play.
As for the actual songs, I instantly heard that classic Beatles sound I associate with them instead of simply talented young musicians who were doing MoTown covers.
I don’t think there was really a track on here that didn’t click even the ones that weren’t as good as my highlights. Also you start hearing some psychedelic influences on here as well, amazing album won’t be leaving rotation 4/5.

Similar thoughts on Beatles for Sale. The songs on here are good nothings "bad" but obviously since the musicians were burnt out at the time its gonna show in the music, the stuff on here that bangs, BANGS but after a album like A Hard Days Night where they just kept giving heat back to back to back to back, theres songs on here I just didnt really care about. Better than their first 2 albums and if it had been released/recorded before A Hard Days Night they def wouldve been able to do more with these tracks. This is for certain a 3/5.

been listening to Help! all day forming my thoughts and im really excited about Rubber Soul, was speaking with this older white gentleman at work and he was telling me how Help! was like the percect pivot album and part of what makes Rubber Soul so crazy.
