Individual humans alive right now aren't being blamed for the original sin

They are according to St. Augustine

IMO hadith are a secondary source at best

OP should first and foremost stick to the Quran for knowledge

I don't want to be like that dude, but the Hadith and Qu'ran are extremely tied together. You can't really have one or the other. You wouldn't even know how to pray without the Hadith.

Hadith are useful for technical questions but stuff like adding that antichrist dude is really just human addition to Quran imo

If you find either as more an outline and not a set of laws, you probably don't really believe in either then tbh. Which is totally fine.

A lot of people have taken their own path in spirituality and faith. It might be the same for you.

Yes but we don't know for sure. Much of the Hadith has been tested and traced back to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Yes, ad-Dajjal is not mentioned in the Qu'ran, but because there's many narrators that have chronicled him speaking about it, it's teetering on, if not pretty much haram, to disbelieve it.

  • May 27, 2022

I'm not even religious anymore so I've got no horse in this race, I'm just saying I've been taught throughout my life that the Hadith/Athar is not secondary to the Qu'ran. It's essentially part of it.

Quran says take no book besides it And theres a reason the prophet forbade to write down Hadith. And a reason Hadiths werent written down for 100 to 200 years.

Apocalypse signs seems like a major thing to leave out doesnt it

If you believe in Muhammad I don't think you can be a Christian. The message he told us explicitly makes it clear Jesus is not god

5:72: They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary" while the Messiah has said, "O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Indeed, he who associates others with Allah – Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers.

If you don't believe Jesus is God then you are not Christian and fall in the belief of Islam. You cannot associate partners with God in Islam.
It's also the one sin that can't be forgiven

The Hadith isn't a holy book though, they're compilations of sunnah. Oral traditions and sayings from Prophet Muhammad. Which the Qu'ran explicitly says to follow.

And I never heard or read anything that said Prophet Muhammad forbade the writing of his sayings.

The word "Sunna" appears several times in the Qur’an, but there is no specific mention of sunnah of the messenger or prophet (sunnat al-rasool, sunnat al-nabi or sunna al-nabawiyyah), i.e. the way/practice of Muhammad (there are several verses calling on Muslims to obey Muhammad).

Ibn Saeed Al-Khudry reported that the messenger of God had said,

    (A) “Do not write anything from me EXCEPT QURAN. Anyone who wrote anything other than the Quran shall erase it.”

    (B) Again, in the book “Taq-yeed Al-Ilm”, Abu Saeed Al-Khudry said, ” I asked the Messenger of God a permission to write his hadiths, but he refused to give me a permission.”

Hadith were oral, written down only during the 8th and 9th centuries, generations after the death of Muhammad, after the end of the era of the Rashidun Caliphate, over 1,000 km (600 mi) from where Muhammad lived.

For your first one, the full verse says

"Do not write anything from me; whoever has written anything from me other than the Qur’aan, let him erase it and narrate from me, for there is nothing wrong with that."

The verse stems that one shouldn't write the sunnah based on hearsay, but that there must be a direct line from the Prophet's mouth to that of the person penning it. It's also important to note that it could be interpreted that Prophet Muhammad forbade writing his oral traditions as the Qu'ran was only recently revealed, and that he did not want people accidentally weaving in his sayings with the holy text.

But again, I'm not religious anymore, so I've got no horse in this race The vast majority of Muslims do not follow all Hadith (as they shouldn't), but a lot don't even follow Suhih. It's just a good practice to at least read on the most authentic ones.

If you dont believe that Jesus is the son of God/part of God as the holy trinity and the only way to heaven then you’re not considered to be saved or a Christian.

Read the Gospels (books: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John)
