"During the late 1920s and early 1930s the Stalin wing of the Communist Party consolidated its authority and set about transforming the Soviet Union on both the economic and cultural fronts. The new leadership declared a "cultural revolution" in which the party would exercise control over cultural affairs, including artistic expression. I thought it was funny especially W.C. Fields. You should watch The Merry Widow, Imitation of Life, No Greater Glory, A Story of Floating Weeds, or Dos Monjes which it's a gothic and expressionistic Mexican horror film

already watched Floating Weeds and have Imitation Of Life queued up (got a blu with both versions). Ill look into those others.

Last of the musical run Lubitsch did. Forgot to add Twentieth Century by Howard Hawks. Another early screwball comedy!

yeah i cant do musicals. and i have 20th Century on dvd and thought it was super boring back in the day.
