    Can’t recommend this two part movie enough as I unfortunately never see them mentioned.

    This real story stars Vincent Cassel (the lead in La Haine) as Jacques Mesrine: France’s most notorious famous gangster oat, often namedropped and referenced in french rap songs.

    He had a long run, was seen as a Robin Hood figure by the people but then did some dirty things like torturing a journalist because he didn’t like what he said and left him for dead.

    Jacques Mesrine never stopped and died on the run at 42 I believe, the less you know about how that went down the best it is, the way they set this up in the movie is so f***ing good.

    First part is about his early life and how it all came to be into the criminal life, the second part is far more into the meat of the legend and big s*** he pulled off.

    They’re two great french movies about a real french story with a great french actor that went ham in this, got the weight and s*** to look like the dude.

    @Bad_Finger_Boogie @Wahi @MacFoley @Soupvillain @Beach_kneega @proper @Danny @Ground @LuJo

    oh yeah these were broadcast recently on an aussie channel one night after the other, the ads for it looked pretty cool so I'll see if I can chase it down sometime

    Oh sorry I forgot there was an old one from the 80s

    I never saw that one so i couldn’t tell you, the one I recommended is the one from 2008, two part movie shot in one, it covers everything and has an amazing casting! won lots of awards back in France

    It’s based on a real life story so I wouldn’t go into a mindset expecting philosophical take from it, it’s a gangster Robin Hood tragic story really, I recommended because of Vincent Cassel

    The less you know before hand the better, it’s so crazy to see s*** go down and take a second to say to yourself wow this actually happened in real life!
