damn didnt realize the Never Change sample was Ruffin
this 18 minute Cat Steven epic is crazy and I feel like the bouncy synth segment around the 7 min mark mightve influenced this Funkadelic song of all things

Had decent listens to Shotgun Willie, Topographic Oceans and Selling England this week

Sounds like easy listening compared to their last couple I don't really recognize the songs so maybe pops didn't overplay it when I was a kid

Fragile had short songs and some catchy ones, Close to the Edge had at least 2 10 minute ones (one ballad).
while Topographic Oceans has 4 20minute behemoths that only upped the complexity and esotericism. think band members even admitted they adding padding to songs to reach the full lengths. even Wakeman one of the wankiest keyboard players ever who wore a cape couldnt handle it and quit
The Revealing Science of God and Ritual are both fire though

Yeah I know but I was digging it
Was at work and I let it play through almost 3 times and didn't have my usual allergies. The arrangements seem a lot busy.
another amazing FZ studio album. with one of his best songs Montana
and December 1973 is responsible for one of his best releases ever with the full Roxy Performances box set. some of it was cleaned up and collected for 1974's Roxy and Elsewhere but that's just a sampling (which could have been chosen better anyway imo). also earlier/different versions of a lot of classics songs that would be on studio albums in 1974-1975. a lot of Zappa heads agree that the 1973-1975 band is his absolute zenith
they also made a Roxy the Movie video release thing
@Elric you want me to cook up a playlist of live goatness? looks like barely any of the individual tracks on are on youtube (prob copyright) but all on spotify

Yeah it's been in rotation. I don't hate it Franks voice change didn't hurt him at all

Inca Roads is probably the most popular choice for his magnum opus among the diehards. that 1973 version is a good bit different from its main form that came in 1974 though (and appeared in mix live/studio form on 1975 album). still fire

Hola Pequina Ser crazy too. I know Artaud is considered the massive Argentina opus of all time but this is way better.

apparently the lyrics are extremely important for Artaud so we miss out on that aspect unfortunately

fair enough. on a sonic level this Pescado Rabioso 2 is the definitely best latin American album ive heard since Todos Juntos no wonder people were so upset they broke up. sounds like a handful of masterpieces on there upon first listen.
