Ayers sinking in as the next whimsical anglo acolyte after Ray Davies, Syd Barret and Marc Bolan
I forgot I edited out the first horrible minute and a half of Mother Of Pearl might not be able to rank it as high as I thought
we already have one Manson fanboy in here that posted it during the appropriate year

true but I just got to the point where I didnt feel like sitting though that intro every time. had to drop it down a few spots.
insane year hard to declare any one act the MVP when Bowie, Roxy, Stooges, Floyd, Sabbath, Zeppelin and P-Funk all hit peaks. silly year for classic rock.
kinda bittersweet knowing all the British Invasion bands were at the end of their imperial phases end of an era with The solo Beedles dropping their last hits, Who dropping their last album as a functioning band, Stones lose Mick Taylor, Ray goes even further up his own arse etc.
Sly at the end of his classic run as well. Passed the torch to P-Funk who were running circles around most bands on the planet. Alot of great Motown adjacent stuff (who also ended an era when they packed up and moved to LA) but none of it touching Clintons deep funk for me. Not even James tbh.
The Outlaw Country stuff was good but not hitting near as hard as all the s***kickin country chicks ngl. Tanya Tucker a new favourite for sure. RIP Gram Parson my country rock goat
Springsteen made a big entrance but Skynyrd still the rookies of the year.
