check that song out and tell me youre not a big Neil guy
I mean to be fair, I Believe In You, See The Sky About To Rain, and Thrasher are all time favorite songs.
I feel bad for Bolan cause Bowie technically followed in his footsteps in alot of ways but always managed to do it bigger and better. female backup singers like this pinched and outmatched on Young Americans for instance.
Bolan I think wasn’t as interested in change. He knew what he was good at and stuck to it. I think he still made great stuff until the end. The title track on his final album is one of my favorites and a fitting last statement. Also I was just never that big on Young Americans.

Yeah I know that's why it's weird to hear you say that you're not a big Neil guy. Just sounds like you agreed with Neil that he didn't really have to release that album in 1974.

Yeah I respect how Bolan stuck to his guns.
I'm not crazy about the album Young Americans either but the title track is a contender for Song Of The Life
psych prog/space rock jam, bass line f***s
real
great album and band
Scorpions first great album. also arguably their first in a long tradition of bizarre album covers
KISS debut is comfy and remained a top 3 album from them at least
best Blue Oyster Cult album. Patti Smith wrote lyrics on Career of Evil since she was dating Allen Lanier at the time
one of my all time secret gem bands, Truth and Janey simply some gnarly heavy psych-leaning underground power trio hard rock. this is only a live archival release from 1974
wouldnt drop their near-masterpiece studio album til 1976 though

yeah Kissin Time is horrifying
Paul Stanley solo album is solid. almost as good as the Ace Frehley one imo but the Ace one doesnt sound as much like Kiss and is kinda just like the lead guitarist happened to make a cool album even though thats clearly not where the catchy songwriting came from
Paul Stanley as a voice and presence is really important to the direction of hard rock in the 2nd half of the decade and moreso the 80s

It’s funny you single that one out, cause I honestly thought that one was pretty alright. It was at least memorable. I was more thinking of the generic “we’re rockin out” songs.

most of the middle songs like Cold Gin are pretty good for me, its just more that they are vastly improved on the 'live' album that came pretty soon after
sometimes they feel like theyre just a skeleton version thats missing something somehow

I had a transcendent experience listening to this album once while mowing my lawn on a super windy day

I’m gonna try that Frehley album. The opening track is good. I still assume the power pop songwriting style of Stanley’s record will overall be more my speed, but I’m curious about this one.
Yeah I was gonna say
I guess enough time has passed for me to declare it
@KNEES this is Eno's opus of the year and probably overall S.O.T.Y.
