Everyone in the comments are saying this played a huge part in the grunge movement of the early 90s and I can definitely hear it.

Does the rest of the album sound similar?

I requested N**** in Paris the last time I was at my local club and felt ancient.

theres famously another song on there called Down By The River which is like that songs twin yeah. several other fan favourites including Cinnamon Girl and the title track. very very classic album where Neil discovered the towering electric guitar epics he would be crafting for the rest of his life.

    do you use Spotify?

    Berlin Trilogy overshadows his discog.

Shoutout to Iggy, Eno and Lou (RIP)

I love Low, but nah. I used to gravitate more towards that stuff, but his glam era is so good at this point in my life. I go back to songs like Time and Quicksand and I’m blown away all over again.

I listened to Neil Young’s American Stars N Bars album. Honestly my favorite from him since After The Goldrush. I love the feel of it. It sounds like the album cover. @Elric

lmao yeah pretty plastered sounding album glad you like it. I cant say its touching OTB/TTN for me but nits at least as good as Zuma.

thoughts on the epically intimate salmon dream song?

I think I've just overplayed that side of his catalogue to death when I was younger that it doesn't hit the same for me (except for ziggy)

my parents and probably most boomers barely acknowledge the Berlin trilogy compared to Hunky/Ziggy/Sane

Bowie even outdid Neil Young as far as ditching one band and moving on to an arguably even better one

Beautiful stuff. I think the songwriting across the album is so strong. It’s like him settling back into what he’s good at but in a way that comes from desperation and sadness. I wish I connected with Tonight’s The Night more. I think the 2nd half is so much better than the first.

for sure side 2 is better but I still love Borrowed Tune and Mellow My Mind.

Albuquerque, Tired Eyes, New Mama masterpieces

Tired Eyes is one of the best things he’s ever done.

  • Take No Prisoners might actually top Rock N Roll Animal. Lou doing a stand up routine in the middle of most tracks is hilarious.

Louie never said he was perfect, or tasteful. I'm just a psuedo-intellectual white boy enjoying his material.

Dang after that pleasant folk album she 180d into the making a trilogy of the most unsettling, monolithic proto goth albums you could imagine. People did not see it coming.
