I fully support LGTBQ+ rights worldwide & believe that everyone should be treated with kindness & respect.

That said, political & financial sanctions don't address the societal views of LGTBQ+ persons in Nigeria. It's a bandaid to a bigger issue.

This kinda ticking me off considering they just had a whole issue with police and military brutality led by President Buhari that US and UN ignored, and people need help in but now this is the issue....

Uganda has been a bigger offender of this for years, just had a botched election last month where the challenger was placed on house arrest, Internet was cut off and people were killed, all while US said nothing and continue to aid them.

At least be consistent man. If you wanna threaten something then you’re gonna have to dig deeper. The people don’t care about what Buhari acknowledges or values

I'm an atheist i don't even believe in god or religions but American imperialism will forever be disgusting. You can't force a country into adopting foreign laws, it's not only inefficient but will probably end up doing more harm than good. And of course they only apply this type of pressure to African countries while the middle east and many asian countries have the harshest anti-lgbt laws in the world.

Not doing business with fascists that violate human rights and prosecute freedom to express identity should be the standard across the globe.
