Just ran this last week and I was thinking the same thing

Almost shed a tear man miss these days

Bro dropped some high quality projects

And produced a lot of that material too

Put my pops on years ago and he became a fan. Took me to one of his shows bc Two9 opened up. Was thoroughly impressed, bruh is a great performer too. Whole crowd was tuned in the whole time. He didn’t miss a beat

    Krit is criminally underrated

    He drops nothing but quality

I don’t even feel like the south had his back like that which is a shame

Like Kendrick was handed the torch on stage, Krit never had a moment like that although he deserved it

The south was kinda fragmented at that time tbh. The OGs that coulda did that (Ludacris, TI, Big Boi, Bun B) were grappling with falling out of favor for the new gen and pivoting to other things outside of rap. I remember some of them hopping on some krit tracks but yeah none were really hyping him up like that

  • Hes kinda lacking on the x-factor charisma superstar aura. Only reason he’s not amongst kanye Pharrell etc

K.R.I.T. to me is the biggest example of why the "big 3" era was so detrimental to hip hop as a whole.

Cause I always thought that as far as singing, rapping, content, flow, that K.R.I.T. was always just better than Cole. Cole is great but like...The Vent, Lions and Lambs, Kings Blues, and Bury Me In Gold? Krit just an alien bruh.

I think the difference is that Cole was at the right place at the right time (and you can argue had 'more appeal') and was given WAAAAY more grace after his flop of a debut versus K.R.I.T.'s flop of a debut (It always felt like after Live from The Underground, which the label f***ed up, he never could shake that 'stench' away. Even though both Cadillactica and 4Eva is a Mighty Long Time are both perfect albums, the latter being a top 5 rap album of last decade) and it just always was one of the biggest stains of the big 3 era to me that KRIT couldn't get his deserved shine.

And that s*** just ain't fair especially for his discography (Return of 4Eva is still the best mixtape of the 2010s.)

Will always reference this post in any thread about krit

the difference is cole had the roc and good music behind him and had appeal from ball players. lowkey krit said it on time machine but he didn’t wasn’t speaking specifically about cole or even rappers it was his brother “broad come and go rarely would they f*** with me, my brother was a player I was favored off up in these streets”

Return Of 4Eva is a special mixtape man. All of KRITS hype and fame 100% came from music. Not many can say that

I'll never forgive Def Jam for f***ing up his career. He was one of the most promising new rappers ever.

Back then I had ranked higher than Wale,. Kendrick , Cole, Drake, etc.

    Krit Wuz Here
    Return of 4eva
    King Remembered in Time
    4evanaday

    All classics.

He deserved more beat placements on other people's s*** and LFTU needed a bigger budget. He had Spike Lee lining up to do videos for him, it just wasn't in the budget.
