Also another thing, it’s good to have these labels cus a lot of hip hop isn’t getting picked up by major labels immediately

Almost every rapper coming in now it seems has funneled in through another rapper’s (or hip hop person’s)label or major co-sign. No one else is helping these guys so it’s def great to have everyone with at least a little influence try to put rappers on. Don’t see the point in pushing it to the side like “they didn’t work” but I guess makes sense for convo

I think worked as in they actually had star artists and successful releases...

It’s not that hard to understand stop tryna be difficult

have you read thru the OP and the responses given before saying this? cause Roc/G-Unit/Shady etc. all had biggers artists and way, WAY more successful releases than Dreamville.

so. yeah. it is that hard to understand.

Can a label working only be judged by how many superstars it creates?

OVO, Dreamville and a few others are successful labels if you really look at their actual visions and what they’ve executed.

None of them have had the longevity to become a Def Jam. Most artist labels have a 5 year run.

Right now there isnt one artist label that's successful in terms.of having a stable of successful artists consistently putting out music

GOOD is prolly the closest you could get.

agreed. it's funny to me how this site shuns Billboard charts and relies on record sales at the same damn time. they just apply different philosophies where they see fit.

They’ve produced multiple artists who are unknown Canadian artists to successful world touring artists

Dvsn, Party, Majid all have very successful careers.

All with no gimmicks or being pushed on audiences just organic growth

Dreamville hasn't had a big artist yet I think Ari Lennox got the farthest but she was a one and done after BMO.

Dreamville got a great roster ie JID, Ari Lennox, EARTHGANG, Bas

And they had a few hits as a label last year and they seem to be having creative freedom

    Great label imo

Dreamville is very solid. Really enjoyed the concept and outcome of ROTD3 too but thinking about it from an exposure standpoint, it probably would've helped to keep the spotlight on just the artists a bit more. all the collabs probably took some attention away.

interested in their future tho especially Ari

OVO is a label for the writers and producers who create for Drake.

You will never blow on OVO.

Cause your best s*** goes to Aubrey and your promotion is only through features on Drake albums.
