what did Drake do ?
Sell $$$ for like $4.99 in the middle of the first week digitally. They raised the price and said you can't do it mid week
these rules are more so aimed at taylor swift tho, they added rules of only 4 editions to an album which is a direct target at her and her 15 versions of an album
drake selling 15k physicals isnt on there mind
taylor moved 1.6 MILLION physicals first week last album

Why do record companies/artists care so much about getting to the top of the Billboard 200? Does the record company or the artist get a bonus or something? It's the only reason I could see why a record company would sell these albums at a loss
travis and abel, count ur days
7.99 is too expensive for cassettes
probably manufacturing costs cause its so niche at this point

Im not expert, but it's for stats "#1 song in the world" etc, having the most #1s. TDE just did that with SZA dropped a deluxe then bragged about breaking an MJ record lol. I think it's all bout the stats and records
And in contract negotiations you can say "I dropped 10 #1 songs over the last 3 years" or something to that effect
Surprised it took this long for the complete gamification of Billboard. They're gonna reach a point where they're constantly tweaking the rules in direct response to the latest meta like how Overwatch was at the end.
I’m not saying its too expensive to sell em for
But a $5 cassette should count for a sale

I think they reached that point already, didn't they just change the rules a year or two ago?

Last sentence makes the most sense from the artist's POV, it gives them more leverage
But for the label? I'm surprised they'd even accept the massive discount thing that Trav did the Utopia vinyl, especially since they pay all of the expenses associated with manufacturing the vinyl copies
