Jay being #1 despite being carried by features in all of his hits, having multiple mediocre albums plus the wack ass r Kelly tour, poor performances, etc is crazy

Wayne is about to hit 20 years of being the singular most influential rapper. Pac is a GOAT but Wayne is arguably one of the most influential musicians of all time

How can you say that when rap music as a whole for the past 15 years would look & sound completely different without Wayne

Been listening to rap all my life seen every era in real time (not nas,big,pac hov etc early s*** I ain’t old like that lmao i was a couple years late on that) but every era from the early 2000s to now i was there in real time

Alot of 90s rappers were doing a variation of what Pac was doing equally good or better. Wayne changed the form in a way nobody else could have. Increased the possibilities for creative expression dramatically.

And I'm old head enough to have been like "Lil Wayne from Back That Azz Up?" when he started really popping again in 2005/6. Couldn't believe my ears by 2007.

I think you’re heavily overestimating how many people actually listen to pac. If you go on the street and ask people to name 20 pac songs they’re struggling.

Wayne, Ye, Drake etc.. are influential—but they can’t be more influential than the OGs/pioneers. It’s just impossible. Just like no producer who changes the sound of rap for the next 10 years will be as influential as Grandmaster Flash. Only rappers that can argue are more influential than Pac are guys like Rakim. The ones who laid the foundation and influenced him(Pac). Can’t be more influential than the one who influenced the current influencers lol. Especially pac, who’s influenced not just rappers but artist from a ton of other genres world wide.

Yeah I mean could just call Melle Mel and Big Bank Hank the most influential or acknowledge the people that really changed the trajectory of rap. Form wise I honestly don't see it. Pac started out a Public Enemy homage basically and slowly transitioned into the same type of gangster rap everybody was doing in the 90s. Yes he had more charisma than most but he was not changing the form any more than Big, Nas, or any member of Wu Tang managed to. Wayne literally changed it and were already 2 generations into his clones running around.

Wayne stans are bold thinking he’s on the same level as 2Pac.
