  • Sad to see but I kind of expected the Saudis would shut them down. Too much debt

Hasn’t been the same studio since after Mass effect 3 anyway and all the og talent is making Exodus and the new Star Wars rpg game

  • WRU

thats f***ing nutso this industry really imploding from within

  • maxxing

Kushner and the Saudis did this, never forget

Aint like EA has track record of shutting down good studios before the buyout

  • We carry the flame 😭 🫡

  • wow.

  • Nil

Anthem and DA veil guard back to back they did it to themselves

Funnily enough, people were saying EA killed Bioware after they dropped DA2 and ME3

Veilguard was a good game the outrage over the game was about wokeness ffs

It scored 82 on meta, better than half of the switch 2 exclusives at this point. I guess Nintendo should close down half the studios they work with

So we're taking metacritic pro reviewers as the end all be all everywhere i see the sentiment is split and that doesnt mark for a good game

The "Electronic A******" tagline has been a thing way before that

  • mjpplus

EA might as well sell off the Mass Effect IP to someone else who will actually do something with it

The question is who exactly could that be

Or is Mass Effect gone forever, if so that's such a shame

    Not to mention Dragon Age

Sad state of affairs in the industry man

Y'all ain't ready for Mass Effect reboot by FROMSOFTWARE

So would you say its been going on a downward slope in overall quality?

Ive only played the first 2 ME games and the start of the 3rd

  • Wow

  • What Xbox should have actually purchased

    I enjoy andromeda.

But seems like BioWare fell off bad. 6 years and nothing to show for it is pretty brutal, can’t be surprised they shuttered

it’s been 2 years in active development, their last game came out Oct 2024

that’s like saying Microsoft should’ve shuttered Bethesda because es6 had nothing to show 2 years after starfield

  • RIP

They were washed but f*** EA regardless

  • Veilguard had some of the worst writing I've ever seen. Tommy Wiseau would've written a better story. It's got nothing to do with "wokeness" or whatever nonsense either, it was just incredibly sterile and amateur writing. The world lost all of the grit as well. Literal Dragon Age: Pixar edition. It was awful. I gave it about 20 hours before I just had to stop.

The gameplay was functional and polished. That's about all I can be positive about.

Bethesda has a recent history of making successes.

BioWare doesn’t. How many 100s of millions are you going to poor into a studio for pennies on the dollar in return. BioWare just wasn’t good enough.

And they announced it 6 years ago and it’s was still on early development. That’s bad.

Nah that’s normal, elder scrolls 6 was the exact same way did you forget? That’s just how the system works, announcements are for shareholders and investors mostly, plus the public buzz. It doesn’t mean it’s not still in pre-development and won’t be for a long time

The es6 announcement trailer was like 2016, 7 years later after wrapping up starfield they just started switching out of pre-production on es6

"it scored 82 on meta" like i could give a rat's ass what the low taste low skill gaming critic class thinks about anything at all let alone games. same energy as niggas that argue about sales or pitchfork scores like they mean anything

Bethesda sells games people buy. They update them. People buy the dlc. People mod them. They get the runway. They released oblivion remaster last year.

Yeah you create buzz announcing 6 years ago and they’ve shown jack s*** since, buzz disappeared, it’s gone. EA pours more money in with nothing to show. Anything that would have shown up on the share price if they were still public is gone by now without any significant updates. BioWare has no value as a studio, the only value is the IPs that EA owns.

Starfield is their only game in a decade and it did not sell well, numbers boosted by gamepass sure, but copies sold is probably close to veilguard numbers. and a lot of the fans thought it had s*** writing just like veilguard.

I wasn’t gonna count remasters but BioWare remastered the trilogy and that sold well and got good reception just like oblivion

The reality is game studios and publishers need to get more efficient. Probably partly AI use, hopefully more using IPs for smaller AA games that can turn some profit and quicker releases. Game dev has just ballooned, costs have ballooned and the money put in is difficult to make back.

It sold well enough to get 3 dlcs. And hard to gauge sales with the gamepass deal. Hopefully there are some changes down the line with that.
