A documentary about the first official punk band (was established before the Ramones) named Death. So ahead of their time they weren't appreciated until decades later.

"Rock critics in the early 70's have labelled mid-60's garage bands such as the Stooges and MC5 as "punk rock" but now those bands are known simply as garage rock or protopunk."

theyre a cool band, but calling them the "first official punk band" is a bit of a stretch and definitely some revisionist history. Death is considered proto punk along with those other similar Detroit bands, there's really nothing that makes them more "official punk" than those. punk didn't "come from" a band that was unknown at the time, we can give them their credit and appreciate them without exaggerating
not trying to derail the thread or anything. Bad Brains is another really cool and super influential black punk band
also notable for including straight up hardcore punk on the same album as reggae/dub songs, i don't think there are any other artists who ever tried that or could pull off both on that level
