    Here is a documentary on the origin of Negro Spirituals...if it wasn't already obvious how those came to be. Also some very well known songs.

    Couple songs I feel fit the theme of the Negro Spiritual

    But on a more positive note, and because Negro Spirituals have a place in this genre, here is a documentary on Gospel music.

    Well known Negro Spiritual performed by a Gospel choir

    Gospel has always had a strong influence on Black music. Especially in House music as gospel choirs/records were frequently sampled in the music
