I have a black mom and her way of thinking about certain things just really irks me...
In September i tore my ACL during a game, when i was in the hospital with her in the "emergency" room instead of like supporting me, she would just cuss me out how f***ing weak i am and s***
Like she always does this, each time someone hurt or down she would just blame it on something different and we at home have noticed how she still has this African mentality about things like Sexuality and Disorders...
Now too, im home cant do s*** with my knee due to surgery couple days ago and she already starts cussing me out and expects me to walk i can barely even move my damn leg
I know its a known thing in african communities that certain things be swept under the rug but why, just open up abit goddamn
You posted this on a forum full of white kids so they can agree with you and s*** on your mom
What a f***ing dumb thing to do, weirdo.

i dont s*** on my mom just a stupid thing she does very sadly and she has told us, where she came from people think the same
and looking to american culture and its heroes, they express the same difficulties

Op not wrong but at the same time, I don’t think this is his audience. I’m just expecting s*** talking and people making jokes about op mom.
this is not exclusive to black parents. there may be cultural tendencies, but this kind of ignorance stems from their parents, and their parents' parents, and so on. it's a generational aspect.

nigga it makes you think; what if u have a sickness? disorder? etc..
but you have a parent that refuses to believe in it thus never getting proper treatment like many have faced
"we" are the victims eventually

it is cultural def
she told me herself this is also how they see it where she comes from
didnt Kanye mention the same thing about his youth? things being swept under?

I get where you coming from, from a literally same situation standpoint, but this is totally NOT the place to vent on that s***. Not for these people..

Yea s*** happened to my brother and me also but I saw how it went down with my bro n I knew whatever TF is going on I gotta b independent
So now my life is kinda trash but at least I'm independent. Lotta mental illness in our community and it's like a cycle of negativity and crab in a bucket type s***. Kinda like ktt

That's what ktt fam should b for support n s***
But these niggas b mad negative smh
Just understand thats her own emotional damage coming out of her. Not saying its still not lame as f*** but we can’t really move the meter unless we sit down & get morenreal w our parents the older get
But yeah, black parents can be harsh for no reason and a lot of the time is cause their frustrated at the inconvenience of unexpected problems and what not. A lot of black homes can barely keep in the straight and narrow,so any zig-zag pisses them off.
That’s my take
it's simple, if they don't show you love, don't show them love when they're old and can't take care of themselves
it is cultural def

i can't comment any further because i'm not black, and it's absolutely not in my place to do so since i don't know your family, but it might be better just to hold off until you're at a position to move out. you don't have to go scorched earth and cut off contact, but it's the most peaceful and best option for you.
i'd also say maybe try talking to her and bring up a calm discussion, but that's up to you and it is confrontational.
