I specifically said when it comes to mass emigration, i.e African Americans emigrating into African countries; its a pipe dream due to how deep tribalism is in Africa. That is the specific aspect of Pan Africanism I’m not in line with. I’m taking a pragmatic approach. That is not me viewing African Americans as less than, that is me saying Africans have s*** they to overcome before they can reach that point in the Pan African movement. Africans have a big problem picking between a bad brother versus a good friend.
And again, I specifically said the phrase “lost”. No where did I dismiss the mindset. The mindset of “African Americans have no culture” 1) isn’t limited to African Americans. In Nigeria at least, that is how they view all Americans. If you were to ask a Nigerian what American culture is, they’d say guns & war. This again speaks to ignorance. I am born and raised in Chicago. I lived in Nigeria for 3 years when I was in highschool. I have the benefit of gaining two perspectives on the issue. The only one trying to invalidate experiences is you.
You bring up “Africans sold us to slavers” yet I’m the one minimizing the slave trade.
You literally think media propaganda doesn’t play a role in how we treat each other and ourselves . That is a MAJOR tool used to create division amongst ourselves, but you want to gloss over it. You wanna say it’s deeper than name calling, (it is) it’s resentment for being sold, how the hell can you direct that specific resentment towards Africans - as if it’s one big country??

This show automatically loses for trying to copy curb your enthusiasm or even take elements from it. Bruh is not Larry David,he’s not even the black Larry David. It’s pretentious and somewhat offensive that the creator of Black-ish thinks he could play himself in a show
No one care breh
“Curb's Larry David and Modern Family's Steven Levitan stepped in to give Barris support, acting pointers, and in Levitan's case, a cameo, to bring Barris' vision to life“
Larry David doesn’t seem to mind at all..
Also fun fact the house in the show is actually Kenya’s house in real life

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, still doesn’t make the show good imo.
Really, once you get past the fact that it’s just Black-ish and Curb smooshed together it’s actually pretty good. Preachy in the same way Black-ish, but a lot of comedy hits just as well as Black-ish and it’s even better at points.

All facts.
But there's another reason blackAF is even being s*** on more than blackish. The writing and acting is 10x worse. I can guarantee you that black people wouldn't be so upset if the writing was great. You can incorporate various black stereotypes/culture references and not have it come off as inauthentic and forced like blackAF does.

Black people who perform blackness and come off out of touch.
They literally have an episode where Kenya gets criticized for making black content designed to appeal to white people and how entertainment targeted at white people receives awards & praise while black entertainment aimed at black people is usually panned by mainstream audiences.
I’m not saying #blackaf doesn’t have problems, but the entire aim of the show is to put a spotlight on universal black issues. That’s what the whole show is about. So to criticize it for doing exactly what it was intended to do seems redundant.
